paris high logoParis High School 9th graders will soon receive Chromebook computers as part of a Texas Education Agency Technology Lending Program Grant. The $99,764 grant will enable Paris High School to provide students access to electronic and web-based instructional materials.

Students will have the opportunity to use the Chromebooks with Google Apps for Education to collaborate and communicate with teachers and peers through a robust suite of online applications at school and at home.  Students unable to afford wireless Internet access at home will be able to check out 4G wireless Internet cards through the library to provide 24/7 dedicated access to this personal technology device.

Superintendent Paul Jones said, “The Paris community is to be thanked for supporting the new high school with its infrastructure for 21st century learning. This grant will allow us to make great strides in preparing students for the future by utilizing the latest technology in the classroom.”

Parent orientation will begin in December and student training and the disbursement of the Chromebooks will take place in January.

Netbooks purchased in 2009 with Vision 20/20 grant funds will continue to be available for checkout to students in grades 10 – 12.  Students will be trained to use the Google Apps for Education suites with the netbooks.
