Socrates (left), played by North Lamar sophomore Korbin Peralta, argues his case before the judges of Athens (left to right) sophomores Korbin Hines, Doran Hutchison, and Steven Wisham-Peregrina.
Honors students in Dennis Hodgkiss’s Pre AP World History class presented the play ‘The Trial of Socrates’ as part of their study of Ancient Greece.
The play is set in 399 B.C. in ancient Athens when the philosopher Socrates was accused of corrupting the young minds of his students. After the play was presented, the students debated the issue of whether or not Socrates had received a fair trial.
