The Paris Fire Department responded to a structure fire located at 2006 Bonham Street on New Year’s Eve just before 4:00 P.M.
The over 100 year old two story home was damaged by fire after embers from the fire place had traveled outside the chimney through an open area in the brick and mortar.
Fire units and investigators were on scene for approximately and hour and a half.
The occupant was not at home at the time the fire broke out but did arrive at the time the fire was being discovered.
A firefighter at Station 3 across the street saw smoke coming out of the eves of the home. He summoned the rest of the crew at the station to investigate. When firefighters arrived they found that the attic was involved in fire.
The other fire station were notified and responded to assist. Approximately 10% of the home was damage by fire. Fire crews had to breech the walls around the fireplace and chimney on all levels to fully extinguish the fire. T
here were no injuries as a result of the fire. Cause of the fire is accidental.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist survivors of the fire.
