Shirley Elizabeth Price, 78, of Paris, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Heritage House of Paris.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mishayla Brewer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Price, the daughter of Herschel Floyd & Mary Lee Smithson Foster, was born Nov. 15, 1936, in Sherman, TX.
During her career she was a secretary and bookkeeper. She and her family lived in San Antonio, Phoenix, AZ and southern California over the years.
Shirley was a member of Nile and the Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Ann Foster.
Survivors include her children, James Douglas Price of Paris and Debby Gibbons & husband Clyde of Lamar Point, grandchildren, Stephanie Confer, Dakota Mitchell, Mandy Ethridge, Jessica Brown and Natashia Brewer along with ten great grandchildren. Jerry Lynn Pryor, 57, of Brookston passed away Friday January 23, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday Jan. 26 at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home chapel with DeeWayne Koehn officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday 4-6 p.m.
He was born September 21, 1957 in Rusk, TX a son of Nathan Lynn and Evelyn Bernice McMillion Pryor. He married Connie Schmidt on October 31, 2001 in Paris. He was self-employed as a painter and attended the Westhaven Mennonite Church.
He was preceded in death by his dad Nathan Pryor, mother Evelyn Pryor; brother Randy Pryor, step-dad Coy Henry, and mother-in-law Evelyn Schmidt.
He is survived by his wife Connie; children Amanda Barnett and husband Michael, Jerry Pryor, Jr. and wife Chelsea, Terrance Hoselton and wife Stephanie, Ross Hoselton, Amber Hoselton; father-in-law Kenneth Schmidt; grandchildren Shane, Nathan, Ashton, Brandon, Ace, Breale, Cheyenne; brothers Ronnie Williams, Ray Pryor, Ronnie Henry; sisters Jackie McMikel, Sue Vaden; brothers-in-law Todd and Allen Schmidt.

Dewey J. Preston, Jr., 93, of the Midway Community in Lamar County, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at his home, while surrounded by family and caregivers.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled funeral services for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27th, at Highway Full Gospel Church with Rev. Dverle Archer and Rev. Bradley Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. There will be a luncheon for family and friends at noon on Tuesday at the fellowship hall of Highway Full Gospel Church.
Mr. Preston, the son of Dewey J. Preston, Sr. & Annie Estelle Hutchings Preston, was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Lake Creek. He worked on his father’s dairy farm a number of years, and he & his wife, Ruby, owned and operated their own dairy farm for more than forty years. He was a longtime member of Highway Full Gospel Church where he had served as a board member. Junior was past-president and fire chief of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department and was a past-member of the board of Lake Creek Cemetery Association. The cemetery was near to his heart; he planted countless trees, installed water lines and took great pride in the appearance of the cemetery. A grandson commented, “Granddaddy would give you the shirt off his back, always putting other people’s needs first.” When asked, “What is your most prized possession?” Mr. Preston said, “My memories of family and friends”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Bobby Preston, a daughter, Shirley Abbott, and siblings, James T. Preston, Pierce Preston, Mae Marie Preston Burket and Ray Stanley Preston.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Gray Preston, whom he married on June 7, 1941, building 73 years of family and memories, two sons, Don Preston & wife Nannette of Rockwall and Jackie Preston & wife Johanna of Grapevine, grandchildren, Shawn Abbott & wife Cescily, Stacy Abbott & wife Leigha, Keith Preston & wife Jennifer, Kevin Preston & wife Toni, Donald Preston & wife Julie, Sandra McCormick, Lisette Hitt, Annette Martinez, Matthew Preston, Mark Preston & Michael Preston, a son-in-law, Stanley Abbott, a daughter-in-law, Lovice Preston, great grandchildren, Allan & Carina Abbott, Lindsey Abbott, Anna, Amelia, Bobby & Grace Preston, Riley & Carter Preston, Ashley McCormick, Ethan, Luke & Hannah Preston, Shelby & Elijah Hitt, siblings, Leroy Preston, John R. Preston, Mary Ruth Preston Vaughn, Ann Preston Lamb, Douglas “Buddy” Preston and Gloria Preston Fitzgerald along with many nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to his caregivers that loved him & treated him like family; Evelyn Weaver, Janet Ringwald, Nikki Cook and Holly Haygood and special thanks to Waterford Hospice for their care of Mr. Preston.

Donna Jean Dunlap, 69, of Paris, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Donna, the daughter of Donald L. & Jewel Preas Evans, was born Dec. 2, 1945, in Paris.
She graduated from Paris High School. Her career spanned over twenty-seven years, working seventeen years at Westinghouse, ten years at Bealls and six months at Goody’s. It was at this time that Donna’s health failed and she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Bert L. & Nada McDonald Evans and John & Sally Preas, a special friend, Margaret North and cousins, Rick Evans and Virginia Ann Hilliard.
Survivors include her husband, Dewey Lawrence Dunlap, whom she married on Feb. 17, 1971, building forty-three years of family and memories, one daughter, Dana Spann & husband Brad, three grandchildren who were the lights of her life and in which her world revolved, Keefer Winn, Alex Spann and Lohman Spann all of Paris, her extended family, Carolyn Spann, Elizabeth & Gary Melton, Mr. & Mrs. Van Odeneal & their son, Ryan, Lula Mae Calhoun, Diane Tellez, and Lynn & Linda Penn, aunts, Dovie Preas and Pat Dockery & husband Steve, cousins, Gerald Preas, Skippy Preas, Cathy Sue Williams, Susan Smith, Carolyn Hiner, Lee Hiner, Craig Evans and Cary Don Evans along with a host of friends.

Carolyn Jean Lansing, 90, of Paris passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in Legend’s Healthcare in Paris. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 26, 2015 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Amburn and Rev. Claude Plunk officiating. Burial will be in the Whitt Cemetery in Whitt, Texas. She was born on March 14, 1924 in Chandler, Ok. a daughter of William E. and Ethel Caroline Bennett Beatty. She was a retired teacher’s aid from Lynwood California School District. Carolyn was a member of the Business and Property Owners Association in South Gate, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, children Regie C. Poston, Judy Slaughter, Torchie G. Schappals, and Bonita R. Poston, brothers Bill E. Beatty, Murray H. Beatty, Robert L. Beatty, Gabe Beatty and John J. Beatty, and a sister Mary J. Wolf.
She is survived by sisters Juanita Rutherford of Paris, Roberta Hardman of Douglassville, TX, and Maudie Morris of Douglassville, Texas; grandchildren Earl T. Denney and Vivian J. Weaver.

James Brian Leatherman, 31, of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, in Dallas.
