Today is the first day that those interested in running for Paris City Council seats in District 4, 5, or 7 could file.
So far, Dr. A.J. Hashmi has filed to rerun for his seat in District 7. And Dr. Steve Clifford, has filed for District 4, the seat currently held by Dr. Richard Grossnickle.
Dr. Steve Clifford, a local Radiologist, is the husband of Rebecca Clifford, board member and the former chair of the Paris Economic Development Corporation (PEDC).
Mayor Matt Frierson is currently the District 5 council member, his term also expires this May.
The other four council members Aaron Jenkins (District 1), Sue Lancaster (District 2), Edwin Pickle (District 6) and Benny Plata (District 3) all have terms that expire next year, May 2016.
Applications for filing for Districts 4, 5, and 7 for a place on the City of Paris Regular Election is from today until February 27, 2015. The physical address for filing applications in person is 150 S. First Street in Paris or if filing by mail: P.O. Box 9037, Paris TX 75461.
