Suspects Try to Evade Arrest

Paris Police carParis Police attempted to stop a black Pontiac passenger car at about 8:11 P.M. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 for a speeding violation in the 500 block of N Main Street.

The vehicle failed to stop and the officer followed the vehicle for several blocks to a driveway in the 500 block of SW 5th Street.

Dometreus Lawaine Pruitt, 36, of Paris was arrested and charged with evading arrest with a vehicle. Pruitt was found to not have a drivers license and to have a warrant for his arrest for failing to display a drivers license from a prior detention.

Pruitt was placed in the city jail awaiting transfer to the Lamar County Jail.

Officers had information that 32 year old Kwame Jermiel Minter was at a residence in the 200 block of NW 24th Street and was wanted for a parole violation. As officers attempted to make contact with Minter, Minter ran out the back door of the residence.

Officers located Minter running about a block from the residence and placed him under arrest. Minter was charged with failing to identify by giving a false name to the officers.

Minter was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
