As a result of the recent ice storms and in an effort to encourage citizen commitment to “Keep Paris Beautiful, Make Lamar County Shine”, Keep Paris Beautiful (KPB) will hold once again host a tree give‐away on Saturday, March 7, 2015, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the west parking lot of First United Methodist Church between Lamar Avenue and Clarksville Street.
Through the Texas A&M Forestry Service, KPB has acquired 1000 hardwood trees of various types which are approximately two to three feet in height to provide to interested citizens. “Keep Paris Beautiful board members will be on hand this Saturday on the grounds of First Methodist Church, in the west parking lot, between Lamar Avenue and Clarksville Street, to provide free trees to citizens,” explained KPB board member Edwin Pickle. “We anticipate that it won’t take long for the trees to be distributed based upon similar programs conducted in Northeast Texas. We will allow each citizen to acquire three hardwood trees and we will be there until we run out.”
The purpose of Keep Paris Beautiful, Make Lamar County Shine is to encourage the communityto create a cleaner, more beautiful Paris through volunteerism and education. KPB conducts the annual trash off/e‐cycle in the city, and was responsible for the planting of Crepe Myrtles in the median on Loop 286 from Hwy 271 South, to Hwy 82 West.
KPB also has played a major role in the restoration of Bywaters Park and the Trail de Paris. KPB is an affiliate in good standing of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful. They are a recognized 501(c)3 and donations can be made through the City of Paris water bills and/or donations through the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce.
