Dewey Dunlap0001Dewey Lawrence Dunlap, 82, of Paris, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and will be at the home of Brad & Dana Spann, 375 CR 43900, (Madewell Road) Paris, at other times.

Dewey, the son of Robert Joseph “Joe” Dunlap & Golden Williams Dunlap, was born July 10, 1932, in Lamar County.

He attended Lamar County Schools. Dewey enjoyed coon hunting and for many years always kept hunting hounds.

His career with Sparks Metal Construction spanned many years before his retirement. He then worked a number of years for Donald Day & Sons before working eleven and one half years at Walmart where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Walmart”.

On February 17, 1971, he married Donna Evans in Tyler, building forty-three years of family and memories before her death on Jan. 22, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, R. J. Dunlap, on Sept. 15, 2008.

Survivors include his daughter, Dana Dunlap Spann & husband Brad of Paris, three grandchildren that were the light of his life, Keefer Winn, Alex Spann and Lohman Spann all of Paris, one brother, Delana Dunlap & wife Barbara of Mesquite, a sister-in-law, Dessie Dunlap of Paris, extended family members, Carolyn Spann of Hopewell, Ben Holland of Taylortown and Jane Holland Polk of Paris along with a host of friends.

Scott P. Roach, 79, of Paris, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24th, at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Lawson, Rev. Jackie Spencer and Rev. Billy Norris officiating. Burial, with Masonic Rites rendered by Collins Lodge # 356, will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Scott, the son of William Franklin & Nola Howard Roach, was born August 25, 1935, in Tigertown.

A jeweler by trade, he owned and operated Scott’s Jewelry for twenty years. Scott was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He had been a Mason for fifty-eight years and was a member of Collins Lodge #356 where he was a Past Master AM&FM, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriners, 32nd KCCH, and had been Post District Deputy of the Grand Lodge of Texas in 1982.

He was a member of the Red River Valley Honkers. Scott was athletic and enjoyed softball, volleyball and golf.

His parents and a brother, William H. “Buddy” Roach preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Dola Farris Roach, whom he married on July 18, 1959, building fifty-five years of memories, one sister, Wilma Rannals & husband D. of Ubell, one brother, Thomas Roach & wife Martha of Paris, along with several nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.

Casket bearers will be: Michael Thomas Lawson, Matthew Scott Lawson, Curtis Adams, Clint Adams, Ricky Oliver, James Williams Hambrick and Rylee Jack Anderson. Honorary bearers will be: Newt Spencer, Randy Rader, Kenneth Earp and Members of the Collins Lodge.

Billy Mack Lester, 58, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, in Paris, Texas.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25th, at Hopewell Cemetery with Rev. Mike Atkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lester, the son of Mack Lester, Sr. & Geneva Spencer Lester, was born April 14, 1956, in Paris. On Oct. 7, 1989, Billy married the love of his life, Betty Darlene Flynn. He spent his life working as a self-employed truck driver and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends when not on the road.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, children, William, Geneva, Debbie, Felicia, Mandy, Scooter and Ashley, sister, Becky, as well as thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Poppa”.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lester was preceded in death by two siblings, Martha Sue Harrington and Tony James Lester.

Casket bearers will be: “Red” Cooper, George Hignight, Ed Cooper, Casey Davis, Billy Joe Flynn, Timmy Lester, Jim Lester, Rickey Sisson, Gary Sessums and Terry Sessums.
