Billy Perry0001Billy Joe Perry, 48, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Weir officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Billy Joe, the son of Floyd Perry, Sr. & Della Mae Jones Perry, was born Dec. 29, 1964, in Paris.

He attended Paris High School and was a member of the Reno Church of Christ. He served in the U. S. Army & and National Guard. Billy Joe worked a number of years at Campbell Soup Company & Sara Lee before beginning his employment at Cytec Engineering in Greenville where he has worked for eight years. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan and an avid golfer at Pine Ridge Golf Course.

His parents & two brothers, Floyd Perry, Jr. & David Perry, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Jerrie Ballard Perry, whom he married on March 17, 1986, three children, Tamra Perry Chapman & husband Jason of McKinney, Tamika  Perry of the home and Triston Perry of the home, his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Hershel & Margaret Ballard of Paris, grandchildren, Tambrin Chapman and Trason Chapman, brothers, Harry Perry & wife Sharon, Danny Perry & wife Kathy, Jerry Perry & wife Sharlene, Charlie Perry & wife Tonya, Ronnie Perry and Donnie Perry & wife Linda, sisters, JoAnne Peoples, Shirley Chism & husband James, Tresa Trammel & husband Shannon, Linda Perry and Shelia Cheshier & husband Danny, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Allen Ballard, Kim Ford & husband Chuck and Margie Self & Ronnie Lyle along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends from Cytec, Campbell Soup and Sara Lee.

Maxine Childers0001Laura Maxine Smyers Childers, 85, of Powderly, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3rd, at the Powderly United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Childers, the daughter of Murlen & Judy Coward Smyers, was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Lamar County.

She worked at various jobs during her career including the Eastman Kodak Company. Maxine was an avid bowler and had been a bowling instructor.

She was a faithful member of the Powderly United Methodist Church.

In 1968, she married J. T. Childers, and he preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nell Mantooth.

Survivors include four daughters, Julia Biard & husband Webb of Paris, Jan Jones & husband Larry of Houston, Judy Howe & husband Ross of Cumming, GA and Debbie Chavez & husband Ruben of Houston, seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, two brothers, Duane Smyers of Crockett and Butch Smyers of Apache Junction, AZ, two sisters, Mary Parks & husband Don of Oklahoma City, OK and Marty Bussell & husband Glen of Powderly along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
