At 7:11 A.M. on May 22, 2015, Paris Police responded to a disturbance call in the 100 block of NE 10th Street.
It was reported that two home health nurses were at the residence to care for a patient when the son of the patient assaulted the caregivers.
When officers attempted to place 35 year old John Rufus Leigh (pictured right) under arrest, Leigh began fighting with the officers. Additional officers were summoned to the scene to help with the arrest.
During the struggle, Leigh allegedly assaulted the officers and refused to comply with officers instructions.
It was reported that the caregivers believed that Leigh was under the influence of synthetic marijuana.
Leigh was arrested and charged with injury to an elderly person, resisting arrest, assault causing bodily injury, and assault on a public servant.
Leigh was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
