In a tight-knit competition, Chenevey placed third in Persuasive Speaking while Gurley got fourth in the same event.
“It was a monster final round,” said sponsor Kristi Hodgkiss. “One change in rank by one judge could have given the championship to any of the top four . . . there were two points between first and fourth. I am so proud of them.”
Gurley and Chenevey will attend the University of Texas at Tyler in the fall and will continue to debate
