The Paris Municipal Band opened its 2015 season on Friday with a variety of musical selections ranging from classic tunes to more contemporary pieces.
Under the direction of Joe Watson, the band opened the concert with the “Star Spangled Banner” and followed up immediately with John Phillip Sousa’s “Washington Post” march. As always, the concert concluded with the Cole Porter classic “I Love Paris”.
The municipal band season continues next week, Friday, June 19th , at Bywaters Park.
All concerts are free. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, concerts are moved to the Pavilion at the Love Civic Center.
The band has performances in Bywaters Park on June 19th and June 26th and July 10th. On July 3rd the Municapl Band is part of the pre-show at Noyes Stadium for the Fireworks. And on July 17 they perform in the Weger Auditiorium at the Paris Jr. High for the crowning of the Crape Myrtle Queen.
