billThe National Weather Service has issued another Flash Flood Watch for Lamar County due to Tropical Storm Bill.  The watch began at 7am on Tuesday morning, June 16th and is in effect until 7pm on Thursday, June 18th.

As Tropical Storm Bill hits the east coast of Texas near Galveston this morning  and travels up through central Texas into our area, we can expect widespread rainfall of 2-4 inches with isolated higher amounts possible.

The center of this system will move into Central Texas overnight tonight but heavy rain is expected to begin across the watch area (North and Central Texas, including Lamar County) during the afternoon on Tuesday.

The threat for thunderstorms, hail and tornados also exists. The excessive rainfall from this topical system could lead to flash flooding and could re-aggravate river flooding.

Thunderstorms are forecasted for Lamar County beginning today, June 16th and continuing through Friday, June 19th.  Temperatures are also expected to dip into the low 80s.  Sunny skies and temperatures in the low 90s return for the weekend and early next week.
