Early Sunday morning, a large group of people went to Denny’s, located at 3040 NE Loop 286 in Paris, where they ordered and ate food, yet left without paying for it.
The general manager of the restaurant, said he was called in toward the end of the incident.
“A group of 20-30 younger individuals came in, which is not out of the ordinary, around 3:30 to 4:00 a.m.,” he said. “Toward the end of the meal, the group got up and scattered.”
The general manager said some of the group went out through the gas station, which adjoins the Denny’s, and others simply walked through the front door.
“Not all of them left,” he said, “but a considerable number left.”
The manager said there wasn’t any assault or physical threat involved; the group simply scattered and left the restaurant.
According to the manager, this hasn’t happened in the Paris Denny’s with big groups.
“Maybe one or two will walk out, but nothing this intentional on this scale,” he said.
If Denny’s pursues criminal charges, the general manager said he would look at theft being a potential charge, particularly since it’s “rare” in Paris.
