Roxton ISD will not have a six-man football team for the 2015-16 school year.
Last December the Roxton ISD School Board voted 5-0 to bring back a football program to the school district.
Paul Trull, Interim Superintendent for Roxton ISD, stated “Coach Paul Johnston felt that between the late start on the field due to all the rain, as well as his concern about the number of students to fill the program, it was best for the district and for him to not start a football program at this point.”
Trull adds, “Coach Johnston requested to be released from his contract on June 18. The district accepted. The football program is on hold for the upcoming school year.”
