The dog days of summer are upon us. Perhaps you have already taken your vacation or maybe one is not planned for this summer. You can still live like a tourist in your own home town.
According to Trip Advisor the top tourist attractions right here in Paris, TX are:
#1 The Paris Texas Eiffel Tower — says one reviewer from May of this year, “very cute photo op if you’re passing through Paris as we were. Nice Veterans Memorial also just next to this. Love the cowboy hat, very Texas.”
#2 The Paris Town Square – just last week a reviewer wrote “There are a lot of stores to choose from. There are antiques, clothing, food, bar, etc. You have to see the beautiful fountain in the middle of the square!”
#3 Lamar County Historical Museum – “Got to Love Paris, Texas” write a reviewer also from this month, “All you ever wanted to know about Paris, Texas is here. From a medical history to a real frontier home.”
#4 Evergreen Cemetery — from the Jesus in the cowboy boots to the new chapel, this is a lovely place to spend the morning walking around
#5 Sam Bell Maxey State Historic House Site – A review from last July states “The 1868 Sam bell Maxey House is a great stop in Paris for local and Civil War history buffs.”
#6 Valley of the Caddo Museum & Cultural Center – This relatively new museum only had two reviews but both were extremely positive “A Must See!” and “Great place to visit for kids and adults.”
#7 Paris Community Theatre – our beautiful Plaza Theatre is a currently on summer break, but you can see Little Women the Musical in August
#8 The Plaza Gallery - The downtown art gallery on the square features local artists and is also the offices of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. If you are looking for more fun activities in Paris, stop by and they can surely point you in the right direction.
