The Paris Powerboat Grand Prix is finally here.  Gates open a 8am Saturday and Sunday at Lake Crook for the Southern Drag Boat Association (SBDA) qualifier.  With well over 100 boats competing for a $30,000 purse, competition is fierce with some of the top boats exceeding 180 mph.

Admission is $15 for ages 12 and up. Two day passes are $25.  Kids under 12 are free.  Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy two great days of high octane racing.  No coolers are allowed, but there are plenty of food trucks, concessions and a beer tent.

The Paris Powerboat Grand Prix is here for the first of a three year contract between the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce and the SBDA, through the leadership of SBDA board member Rae Fawkes.  The Chamber, the Visitor and Convention Council and the City of Paris worked diligently to put together this event in short window of time and it should be noted the Bill Loranger of the City of Paris and Jimmy Don Nicholson of Lamar County Adult Probation have transformed the previously grown up Lake Crook into a real showcase for drag boat racing.

Bring the family and come out to Lake Crook.
