PCT Children’s Theatre Classes

Brown Centre PCT New Sign_sliderThe fall semester of children’s theatre classes offered  through the Paris Community Theatre will start the week of Monday, September 14th.

Parents can register their children on the first day of class or to be guaranteed a space in the class, register at the PCT Box Office.

All classes are held at the PCT Brown Centre for Creative Arts, located at 115 Clarksville Street.

Classes offered include:

Creative Dramatics I For PreK to 1st Grade Mondays from 4:15-5:15 Classes begin September 14th Instructors: Tim Wood and Catie Maxwell. Tuition: $95. The class will introduce foundational theatre knowledge with an energetic mix of games and simple improvisational exercises.

Catie Maxwell has been involved in theatre since high school and a part of the PCT family since 2007’s Once Upon A Mattress. She has extensive acting experience, as well as technical experience with lighting, costumes and makeup, and is pursuing a degree in Education. She is a wife and mother, and 2-year-old Ella is a theatre baby who loves to be on the stage.  Tim J. Wood has been involved with PCT since 1992 and has acted, directed, and designed many productions over the years. He has a BA in Theatre from TAMU-Commerce and has also worked with North Lamar High School and Paris Jr. College over the years in various capacities. This is the second time he has taught for PCT. Both Catie and Tim are very excited to be teaching Creative Dramatics I. The class will be an action packed fun time, while at the same time teaching basic theatre movement and character building skills

The Young Actors Studio For Grades 2nd through 4th Mondays from 5:30-6:30 Classes begin September 14th Instructor: Kelly Turner.  Tuition: $95 Do you have a future Hollywood starlet living under your roof? Is the next Broadway show stopper acting scenes out every chance he gets? You are in luck! PCT’s Young Actors Studio, will provide a safe, nurturing environment for your young actor to dip his or her feet into the wonderful world of theatre! We will learn about some acting basics, some basic theatre terminology, creative movement, improvisation, etc… and we will have so much FUN!

pct children's theatre 2Intermediate Theatre Skills & Performance For Grades 5th-7th Tuesdays with two class times available: 4:00-5:00 and 5:15-6:15 Classes begin September 15th Instructor: Laura Hutchings Tuition: $105.

Laura has been involved with PCT’s Children’s Program for more than 5 years. She taught the Teen classes and served as the Children’s Coordinator before taking over the 4th through 7th grade classes. She has also been involved with the adult theatre as both a director and performer. She received her BFA in Theatre from TCU and has teaching ever since. Since creating the Theatre Department at North Lamar High School, she has led her cast to UIL State One Act Play Competition six times. NLHS won the OAP State Championship in 2010, placed 2nd once, and 3rd two different years.
