The 26th Annual Lamar & Red River Crime Stoppers Rodeo is going BLUE this year “In Support of Our Local Law Enforcement.” They are asking that everyone attending wears a Blue Shirt to show support for our Police & Sheriff Departments, School Security Officers, Constables, Game Wardens, Highway Patrol and other Law Enforcement Agencies that keep us safe in Lamar and Red River Counties.
The BLUE Rodeo will be held, Saturday, October 10 at the Paris Rodeo and Horse Club Arena and will begin at 7:00 PM. This year no admission fee will be charged, the event is FREE for everyone. There will also be FREE BLUE face painting for the kids!
There will be four events at the Rodeo: Team Penning, Mugging, Branding, and Milking. Team penning is when the participant sorts two calves with the same number on their backs and place both in a pen. During mugging, the team sorts one calf out of the herd, ropes it, wrestles it to the ground and ties it up. Branding is where the team sorts one calf, heels it to the ground and brands it. Cow milking is where the team ropes a cow and milks her. The events are activities performed by cowboys on working ranches or by teams that think they have what it takes to put on a show and win.
Teams have already entered the rodeo and will be competing in the four events. The opening Parade will feature 1st Responder Vehicles from our local agencies and maybe a few BLUE surprises.
Remember the rodeo is FREE for everyone so come out for a fun night of entertainment and help the Lamar-Red River County Crime Stoppers thank our local law enforcement for supporting us all. Concessions will be available and Crime Stoppers will also have Twelve Days of Christmas raffle tickets available. Please follow us on Facebook for your local Crime Stoppers Tips and for more information about the event at the Lamar County Crime Stoppers and Red River County Crime Stoppers Facebook Pages!
Come to the BLUE rodeo and see the BLUE surprises.
