The North Lamar Pantherettes moved to 3-0 in the district after a home win against crosstown rival Paris High. The Lady Cats came into the game hoping to provide the upset over North Lamar.
The game started off exactly how the visiting Lady Cats wanted as they battled to a first set win. With the momentum on their side, Paris High took the first point of the second set as well. North Lamar woke up at that point, though. They finished the game on a 25-4 run to dominate the second set.
North Lamar would win the final two sets to win the game 3-1 (23-25, 25-5, 25-9, 25-18). One of the reasons for the turnaround was the play at the service line for North Lamar.
Karlie Ewell finished 20 for 20 from the line with four aces. Bailey Foy was also perfect with her serves as she went 11 for 11 with two aces. Foy also led the team with 15 kills in the game. Kayla Igleheart finished with 23 sets to lead North Lamar. The Pantherettes will travel to Texarkana Tuesday night to face the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks.
The JV team also defeated the Paris High JV team Friday night 25-15, 17-25, 25-12. Katie Garrett finished with six kills. Mara Mabry had five kills. Jacie McFatridge finished with four solo blocks and Hannah Clark had 13 assists. The freshman team also won 25-10, 25-16. McKayla Figueroa had seven kills and Madelyn Clark had 11 assists.
