According to the National Weather Service, Lamar County is under a Flash Flood Watch that is in effect through Sunday morning.
Expect periods of prolonged heavy rainfall, with 8 to 10 inches of rain possible. The heaviest rains are expected to fall late Friday night into Saturday morning.
A flash flood watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy rains which may lead to flash flooding.
Heavy thunderstorms are forecasted for Friday, especially in the afternoon. Chance of rain is 90% with localized flooding possible.
