Yates0001James Henry Yates, 68, of Paris, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Yates, the son of John Andrew & Jessie Tucker Yates, was born September 29, 1945, in Lamar County.

He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. James drove a gravel truck for over twenty years, with many of those years spent driving for E. J. Newberry. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlene Lewis Yates, on March 23, 2008, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Andrew Yates and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Earl G. Lewis.

Survivors include his son, John Earl Yates of Paris, brothers, Johnny Yates & wife Mary of Powderly and Curtis Yates & wife Jo Ann of Paris, sisters, Donnie McGill of Pattonville and Ammie McDowra & husband Keith of Pattonville along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
