Joe Slagle was born on October 5th, 1962 and he was anything but your average ‘Joe.’ He had a bigger-than-life personality and a heart the size of Texas. Joe was raised in Paris and later moved to Grapevine where he started his own business. He owned and operated S&S Contractors for 20 years and was always dedicated to his company, but nothing compared to the love he had for his two children. The pride almost poured out of him at the mention of Bryan and Madison and he wasn’t afraid to brag on their many accomplishments. Joe loved his kids more than life itself and it truly showed. He was ‘PePaw’ to Hayden and Hannah and loved spending time with his grandkids. Joe was the best father, uncle, brother and son anyone could have. He spent most of his free time at his cabin in Chicota hanging out on the porch, visiting with friends that stopped by. Over the years, Joe especially enjoyed being around his old buddies, Ricky White and Jay Austin. Joe was always starched and ironed and never went anywhere without his black cowboy hat. He had a contagious laugh and a big, warm smile that could light up any room. Joe never met a stranger and didn’t blinked an eye at helping someone in need. Joe was a free-spirit and had an inner light that warmed whomever he met.
He is survived by his son, Bryan Keith Slagle and wife Taelor of Keller; his daughter, Madison De’Lise Slagle of Stephenville; his father, Gene Slagle of Chicota; grandchildren, Hannah and Hayden of Keller; his brothers, Terry Slagle of Chicota, Larry Slagle and wife Morgan of Paris; his sister, Lisa Bowers and husband Mike of Mansfield and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Joe has been reunited in Heaven with his mother, Alma Slagle and brother, Jesse Slagle.
Named to serve as pallbearers are Terry Slagle, Larry Slagle, Tanner Slagle, Taylor Slagle, KaSee Slagle, and Jay Austin.
