Paris Police officers were conducting a traffic stop in the 4200 block of Pine Mill Road on October 31st when they heard exploding fireworks in the area.
Officers located a vehicle on fire in the 3700 block of Castlegate Drive at 10:35 P.M. on Halloween night.
When officers first arrived, they made contact with an unknown male who advised that his girlfriend had set the car on fire. While officers are attempting to secure the scene, the male disappeared.
The girlfriend was located at the apartment next to the vehicle that was on fire and she stated that her boyfriend had assaulted her and had set the vehicle on fire.
Officers advised that they heard several explosions coming from inside the vehicle. The female stated that the male had thrown some lit fireworks into the vehicle after he assaulted her and then ran off.
No names are being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. The fire department arrived and doused the fire.
No injuries were reported from the fire.
