Sibyl Biggers peacefully ended life on this earth on Saturday, April 12, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas. Her celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home, Paris, with the Reverend Daniel Echols of Lubbock, TX, officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Gardens, Reno, Texas.
Sibyl Evelyn Carter was born June 17, 1919, in Wilburton, Oklahoma, to Sarah Frances and Louis Jones Carter. She was the 9th of 10 children. She grew up in Southeastern Oklahoma, attending Southeastern Oklahoma College and then moving to Paris, Texas, to attend nursing school at the Sanitarium of Paris. She practiced as a registered nurse in Paris in the hospital emergency room, operating room, as the nurse in a doctor’s office and finally as a school nurse for Paris Independent School District for 22 years, retiring in 1984. While in nursing school, she met Samuel Palmer Biggers in Paris and they were married October 15, 1943. They had two sons, Samuel Carter and Gary Wayne. Sibyl lived in Paris until 2003, when she moved to Lubbock, Texas.
Sibyl and Palmer were active lifetime members of the Friendship Sunday School Class and Calvary United Methodist Church in Paris. She was also a member of the Texana Study Club, the Paris Golf and Country Club and the Elks Lodge. She loved Paris and over the years enjoyed playing 42, 84 and bridge with her many friends.
The greatest joy in Sibyl’s life was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer (1991): her son, Gary (2013), her parents and her siblings: Clementine, Jimmie, Garland, Cad, Vada, Vester, Etta, Cristine and Louis. She is survived by her son, Sammy Biggers and his wife, Jamie, of Lubbock, TX; her daughter-in-law, Pat Biggers, of Houston, TX; her granddaughter Cecilee Biggers Echols and her husband, Daniel, of Lubbock, TX: her grandson Carter Biggers and his wife, Mandy, of Boalsburg, PA; her great grandchildren Isaac and Luke Echols, and Palmer, Harrison and Annabelle Biggers; her brother-in-law, Eulas Rook of Long Beach, CA; and many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly.
Sibyl’s family would like to thank Grace and Dale Abesemis and all the staff members at the Bethany House in Lubbock for their kindness love and compassion for NanaBoo.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, April 15, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
