flash flood watchOnce again the National Weather Service has announced that  Lamar County is under a flash flood watch that began at 6am this morning and continues until this evening.

Most of North and Central Texas is under this Flash Flood Watch.

Forecasters are expecting periods of heavy rain on already saturated ground which could lead to flash flooding. Some areas may only experience one to two inches of rain, but higher amounts of rain also expected in some areas.

Showers and storms will gradually increase in areal coverage today, with some producing heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding. Recent heavy rainfall events have led to saturated soils, meaning that runoff from 1 to 2 inches of rainfall in a short amount of time could lead flash flooding in many of the affected areas. Additional flooding may occur along creeks, streams and rivers.

There is a slight risk for strong or severe storms as a cold front pushes through the area later this evening.

No rain is expected for Friday or the weekend. Weekend temperatures see highs in only the ’60s.
