dorriesPNFrances Ellen “Pug” Dorries, age 91, died Wednesday January 2, 2013 at her home in Blossom, Texas. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at Evergreen Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 with Rev. Henry Blackmon officiating. Her body will lie in state at the funeral home until that time and no formal visitation is planned. Her family will be gathered at her home in Blossom.

Frances was born October 29, 1921 in Idabel, Oklahoma to parents Purdom Armfield Morris and Lilly Floyce Livingston Morris. Her brothers were Carl, Bill and Ed Morris and her sister was Geneva Wolf. They all preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death on November 29, 2002 was her husband, Carlous “Buck” Dorries, whom she married February 28, 1942. She and Buck were associated with Blossom Telephone Company for many years.

Blossom survivors are son C. M. “Mick” Dorries, daughter-in-law Joyce Dorries, grandson Clint Dorries and wife Kelly; grandson Matt Dorries; great-grandchildren Payden, Casey Keara and Evan Dorries.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Longoria and husband Ben of DeSoto, Texas and a granddaughter Meagan Longoria of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by a niece, Martha Wolf Jackson of Onalaska, Texas and a nephew Carl Wolf and wife Deborah of New Caney, Texas.

The family would like to thank Dr. Surber and staff for all their great care and Cypress Basin Hospice who provided such wonderful service, attention and encouragement these past three weeks.

Also deserving of our heartfelt thanks is a special caregiver and companion, Kathy Wood. Thank you, Kathy for making it possible for our loved one to remain comfortably in her own home environment the last six years. We truly appreciate your wonderful care, attention and devotion.

Pruett-PNHobert Lee “Cotton” Pruett, Jr., 67 of Novice, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services with full Military rites has been scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 A.M.at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Aldridge officiating.  Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Fry-Gibbs Funeral home on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.

He retired from the United States Army as Major.

He is survived by his wife DiAnne Gresham Pruett; children, Sean Pruett, Peyton Pruett McMonigle and husband Thomas, Christopher Pruett, Ashlea Pruett McKinnis and husband Levi; grandchildren, Dustin Pruett, Jordan Pruett, Erin McMonigle, Mason Spangler, Ava McMonigle, Matthew McKinnis, Micah McKinnis, Minnie McKinnis.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hobert Pruett, Sr.; mother, Jewell Deffenbaugh; sister, Joyce Swafford.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Novice Volunteer Fire Department.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Novice Volunteer Fire Department, The American Lung Association or to the American Heart Association.

cooperPNEva Merel Cooper, 80, of Sulphur Springs, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Texas Regional Medical Center in Sunnyvale, Texas.  A graveside service is set for 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Forest Chapel Cemetery with Sandra Oliver officiating.  The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.  Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Eva was born one of fourteen children to Albert Jack and Eva Lela Brown Hawkins on April 23, 1932 in the Biardstown Community of Lamar.  She married Eddie C. Cooper on April 7, 1949 at RamseurBaptistChurch in Paris.  She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Casey Dale Cooper and Paige Cooper; two sisters, Pat Childress and husband, John of Sulphur Springs and Linda Haley and husband, J.D. of Forney; and one brother, Harold Hawkins of Sulphur Springs.  Mrs. Cooper’s husband, Eddie C. Cooper preceded her in death October 6, 2001. Also preceding in death by her three sons, Jerry Dale Cooper, Randy Clay Cooper, and Kenneth Craig Cooper; and ten siblings, Nell Exum, Monell Hawkins, Doris Uquhart, Sadie Hurley, A.J. Hawkins, Mae Powell, Ray Hawkins, her twin, Treva Nall, Wendell Hawkins, and Betty Ray.

malone pnJack Reginald Malone, 84, of Paris passed away December 24, 2012 at Heritage House of Paris surrounded by family and caregivers.

Mr. Malone was the oldest of four children born to Curtis and Nina Harris Malone. Jack was born on January 11, 1928 in Clardy, Texas. He was a truck driver, farmer, and rancher. Jack was a member of the Glory Baptist Church, past member of the Elks Lodge, attended Masonic Lodge #27 and was a 32nd degree Mason, and was also a Shriner. He served in the U.S. Navy.

On September 13, 1946 he married the former Ruby Mae Moore in Roxton, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Malone, sisters Nancy Stallings and Martha Vaughn and husband Donald.

Mr. Malone is survived by his children Jackie Wilson and husband Larry, Kathy Bolton and husband Johnny, June Williams and husband Charles all of Paris and Sandy Malone-Martin and husband Ron of Plano, TX. He also is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law Jim Stallings.

Memorial graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 11, 2013 in Evergreen Cemetery with Rodney Sprayberry, Chaplain of Hospice Plus officiating. The family would like to thank Stephanie, Chance, Sarah, Jose, Angie and Lisa of Hospice Plus for their wonderful care of our dad as well as the staff of Heritage House.
