barnettobitJIMMY (JAMES KENNETH) BARNETT, 80, a longtime Paris resident, passed from this life into life eternal on Tuesday, November 24th, 2015 at Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena, Texas. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Monday November 30th, 2015 in the columbarium pavilion at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Ken Cannon officiating

Jimmy Barnett was born on July 21st, 1935 in Paris, a son of Almon C. and Dorothy Darrell Wheeler Barnett. He graduated from Paris High School, then furthered his education at San Jacinto College and the University of Houston, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, and was honorably discharged on September 3, 1957 after service aboard the USS Begor.

After the Navy, Jimmy worked at Houston Lighting & Power and then as a Police Officer for the Pasadena Police Department.  He then went on to have a long career as an electrician with the Occidental Chemical Corporation, then retired back to his native home of Paris.  He recently moved back to Pasadena to be closer to his children.

Those preceding him in death include his parents, a sister, Patsy Ruth Gosset and brother, Almon C. Barnett.

He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Barnett of Pasadena, Texas, Teresa Kerner of Richmond, Texas, and Judith Sanchez of Falls Church, Virginia; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Gibbens of Paris, Texas and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
