hampton001Joe Melo Hampton, Sr. 70, of Paris, died at 2:35 AM, Monday, December 7, 2015 at his home. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 10, 2015 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Edwards officiating.  Burial will follow in Detroit Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.  Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Joe was born May 21, 1945 in Harlingen, Texas to Mike Wade and Eva Salazar Hampton. He graduated from Detroit High School and served in the United States Army Special Forces for four years during the Vietnam War.  He married Norma Gail Johnson on August 9, 1982 in Amarillo, Texas.  Mr. Hampton was a truck driver until his retirement.

Survivors are his wife, Norma Gail Hampton; eight children, Joe Hampton, Jr. and wife, Lee Ann, Sabrina Gresham and husband, Tony, Donna Ray, Regina Ellis, Vickie Dudley, Ricky Dudley, Wendy Reeves and husband, Shane, and Cindy Beall and husband, Mike; seventeen grandchildren, Nathan, Gabe and Hannah Hampton, A.J., Ally and Addy Gresham, Bradley Don Lee, Candice Daughtrey and husband, Jay, Keshlia and Kelsey Ellis, David Valdez, Jr., Amy Valdez, Austin and Andrew Dudley, Dakota and Montana Reeves, and Ashlea Beall; a niece, Kessa Hampton; a nephew, Wade Hampton; sister-in-law, Brenda Hampton; and an uncle, Mario Salazar. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene Wade Hampton.

robinson garthAlva Garth Robinson, 89, of the Tigertown Community, passed away December 5, 2015 at DuBuis Hospital in Paris. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Barnes and Rev. Duane Hamil officiating. Burial will follow in the Tigertown Cemetery with Grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Big Boy Rannels, Vester Crutchfield, Donnie Crutchfield, Paul David Blackshear, Floyd McCoin, Don Fox, Jerry Magness, David Magness, Fred Fore, W.H. Brumley, and David Robinson. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. till 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Robinson was born in the Ubell Community of Fannin Co., Texas, a son of Jack and Pearl Stephens Robinson, on September 4, 1926. He married Yvonne Brown on November 4, 1950 in Tigertown. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2004. On March 16, 2007 he married Jean Magness and she preceded him in death on September 14, 2014. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sister Joe Thomas Robinson, Ralph Robinson and Veta Terry.

Mr. Robinson was a longtime farmer and rancher and was a member of Maxey Baptist Church. His favorite past-time was fishing. Garth said, “If you were too busy to fish, you were too busy.”

He is survived by children Bryan Robinson and wife Jessie of Tigertown, Laurie Mallicote and husband Charles of Tigertown; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Grant Mallicote and wife Kelli of Tigertown, Clay Mallicote of Tigertown, Janna Norris and husband Kevin and children Taylor and Payton of Tigertown, Matt Mallicote and wife Kristen and children Maesyn and Kemper of Tigertown, Weston Mallicote and wife Neeley of Ubell, Jordan Mallicote of Tigertown, Carolyn Adams and husband Wesley and children Eli and Eden of Tigertown, and Carey Robinson of Tigertown.
