Bailey Intermediate and Stone Middle School in the North Lamar Independent School District are hosting a JUMP Fall Showcase highlighting student project discoveries.
On Wednesday, December 9, parents, grandparents, and community members are invited to show support and encouragement by attending this end-of-semester exhibit to view student findings.
Bailey will hold their showcase from 8:45 – 10:00 a.m. and Stone’s will be from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m.
“The Bailey students are so excited to show off all they have been working on this semester,” said Principal Angela Compton. “For example, guests will see a deer stand that the hunting group built and will give away to the highest silent auction bidder with the money going to charity. The fishing group will show how to tie lures, cast their reels, and talk about fishing techniques. The cooking group will show a PowerPoint of all the food they have made this year.”
Through the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM), simply referred to as ‘JUMP (Journey to Unlocking My Potential),’ students focus on their strengths and interests by interacting with other students and adults who share common strengths, goals and interests. The students meet weekly throughout the semester in groups of 10-20 referred to as ‘enrichment clusters.’
Stone Principal Kelli Stewart said, “During our fall journey, our students were given the opportunity to engage in student-driven, real world learning experiences. SEM has allowed our students to unlock their passions and talents this fall semester.”
Expected areas of interests to be showcased include Wood Working, Candle Making, Fashion Design, Horses, Architecture, Interior Design, Archaeology, Guitar, CSI, Theatrical Dance, Construction, Fitness and Health, Restaurant Design, Real Estate, Outdoor Recreation, Campus Beautification, and Random Acts of Kindness.
“We would like to invite everyone to come and view our students’ projects,” said Stewart.
