Two Different Arrests for Theft Over Christmas Weekend

12-28 jeffreyParis Police responded to a burglar alarm at a business in the 1100 block of N Main street at 3:24 A.M. on December 24, 2015. Officers arrived and observed a black male drop a ladder and flee the scene on foot.

Officers later located the male laying in an open field and detained him. Officers identified the subject as 57 year old Jimmy Wayne Jeffery, of Cooper.

The investigation led officers to a blue pick-up that was parked along the side of the road in the 200 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. Officers found numerous items inside the vehicle that belonged to the business. Jeffery reportedly admitted to burglarizing the building and taking the items.

Jeffery was also wanted on a felony warrant charging him with assault. That warrant stemmed from a November investigation where Jeffery had assaulted his girlfriend in Paris.

Jeffery was arrested and charged with burglary of a building and evading arrest along with the warrant. He was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.

12-28 scales37 year old Shareka Lashon Scales of Paris, was arrested at 6:36 P.M. on December 26, 2105 in the 3800 block of Lamar Ave. and charged with theft. It was reported that Scales placed merchandise into her purse and left the store without paying for it. The value of the merchandise was valued at less than $100.

Upon reviewing her criminal history, it was found that she has at least two convictions for theft in the past. This theft was enhanced to a felony and Scales was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
