The Driver’s Education class, approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety, meets from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, Feb.1-25. The class will also be offered Feb. 29-Mar. 31, Monday through Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Medication Aide instructs in the preparation and administration of designated medications by non-licensed nursing personnel employed in licensed health care agencies, including the responsibilities associated with such administration. The class will meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Feb. 2-June 10, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Basic Life Support Recertification for Health Care Providers is offered for certified cardholders from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8. The American Heart Association certifies the class.
Child Development Associate Training – Hybrid teaches core competency standards as part of career advancement in early childhood education. Students will learn how to help children successfully move from one developmental stage to the next. The class meets Mondays, Feb. 8-June 27, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Computer Essentials Level I is designed for the person with very limited computer training. The student will learn basic computer tasks, using windows, proper mouse and keyboard techniques, computer lingo and “buzz” words. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesday, from 5 to 7:20 p.m., Feb. 8-15.
QuickBooks Level 2: Beyond the Basics will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesdays, Feb. 9-23. Learn tracking and selling inventory, errors and refunds, working with balance sheet accounts and handling payroll requirements.
The Initial Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers class teaches lifesaving skills for respiratory and cardiac emergencies. It will meet from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 10-11. The American Heart Association certifies the class.
Fitness: Racquetball teaches a game that combines social and competitive elements with substantial health and fitness benefits. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6 to 7 a.m., Feb.15-May 11. Another section of this class will be offered on Tuesdays and Fridays, 6 to 7 a.m., Feb. 16-May 13.
Fitness: Water Walking provides a great workout as water buoyancy supports the body’s weight, reducing stress on joints and minimizing pain. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 15-May 11, from 6 to 7 a.m.
Seniorific – Computer Essentials Level I – Basics is designed for the person with very limited, if any, computer training. Learn: Navigation of the Windows operating system; proper mouse and keyboard techniques; computer lingo and “buzz” words; and editing documents using cut/paste/copy. The class will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Winter Sparrows of Northeast Texas will teach students to recognize the many different species of small brown birds wintering in Northeast Texas. After this class you will be able to identify some of the more common species that winter in the region. Additionally, introductory topics related to birding will be taught. This class will meet Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Phlebotomy Basic & Clinical will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m., Feb. 16-May 10. The course provides technical and clinical training to prepare for work as a phlebotomist in hospitals, physician offices, group practices, independent laboratories, health maintenance organizations and public facilities.
The National Registry Paramedic Transition Refresher course is a 48-hour continuing education class that meets the minimum required content area hours for recertification of a National Registered Paramedic. Classes will meet from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17; Tuesday, Feb. 23; Friday, Feb. 26; Monday, Feb. 29; Thursday, March 3; and Wednesday, March 9.
Medication Aide Update will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19. The course fulfills Texas Department of Health specifications on annual renewal requirements. Med Aides should take this course one month before their certification card expires.
Microsoft Word Level 2: Beyond the Basics will be meet from 8 to 11:30 a.m., Fridays, Feb. 19-26. Learn advanced formatting techniques to enhance documents.
The Heartsaver First Aid CPR & AED (automated external defibrillator) class teaches basic first aid and CPR/AED procedures, including first aid skills recommended by the Occupational Safety and Health Agency, to those with a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency. The course will meet Saturday, Feb. 20, 8:30 am to 4 p.m.
Microsoft Access Level 1: Essentials teaches a database program used to manage data that is organized into lists, such as information about customers, products, inventory, sales, vendors, etc. The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 to 8:20 p.m., Feb. 23-March 1.
Seniorific – Computer Essentials Level 2 – Internet teaches users to feel confident when surfing the Internet through learning new tips and tricks. Save money on ink and paper while printing only what is needed instead of printing an entire website. The class will meet Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Winter Birds of Northeast Texas Open Country class identifies which species winter in this unique habitat. General bird identification techniques will also be taught. The class will meet Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 6 to 7 p.m.
The instructor-led Bird Walk will take students through open country and bottomland hardwood forest habitats. Prerequisite: must attend one of the classroom trainings before attending a bird walk. The class will meet Saturday, Feb. 27, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
