BowmanObitEditCHARLES A. BOWMAN, 81, of Paris, left this earth for life eternal on Thursday March 10, 2016 at Paris Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m Saturday March 12, 2016 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home with Rev. John Brown and Rev. Don Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowman was born April 11, 1934 in Lamar County, a son of Brice Elmore and Emma Long Bowman. He attended Lamar County schools, spending a career of over forty years at Babcock & Wilcox, Inc., retiring as a supervisor. He was a dedicated and trusted employee, a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Although he loved his family, he equally loved his Lord, and served him faithfully through his membership at Ramseur Baptist Church. He had served as a deacon, door greeter, bus driver, and numerous other positions in the church.  Whatever the need that arose, Charles always stepped in to help. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, and spending time playing volleyball and softball. He loved to work with his hands, being an excellent welder, and created works of art in iron or wood.

In his leisure hours he loved to spend time with friends and family in a game of 42, a round of Poker, a Texas Rangers game. He was an excellent cook, and made candy as no one else can.  Charles tended to his family, his business, and his church, making his Lord prominent in his life.

On May 3, 1953, he married Betty Williams, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, John and Naomi Williams; a brother, Arnold Bowman, and a  sister, Marie Bowman Haney.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Anna Mullins and husband Jim, of Austin, and Sherry Denison and husband Don, of Paris; a son, Philip Bowman and wife Brenda, of Paris; five grandchildren, Stephen Mullins, Tara Swindle, Shanna Wilkerson, Jennifer Bowman,  and Kandace Moree; and eleven great-grandchildren, Bailey, Rayce, Reagan, Karlee, Kye, Ainsley, Nadia, Collin, Emma, Camden, and Gauge; four brothers, Thomas Bowman and wife Juanita, of Paris, John David Bowman and wife Patsy, of  Sulphur Springs, Roger Dale Bowman and wife Kathy, of Lancaster, and Jerry Wayne  Bowman and wife Peggy, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister, Mattie Cunningham, of Paris; and a host of other extended family and friends.

Named to serve as pallbearers are Chase Moree, Charlie Russell, Stephen Mullins, Mike Bowman, Rex Gentry, Jason Swindle,  and Rayce Wilkerson.
