Lamar County Crime Stoppers received two national awards from Crime Stoppers USA in Austin Texas recently.
Lamar County Crime Stoppers and The Paris News was selected as winner of the media award for best crime of the week in communities up to 250,000 in population. Our crime of the week was selected due to its clarity and placement in The Paris News on the front page.
The Lamar County Crime Stoppers website, www.lamarcountycrimestoppers.info was also selected as the best website in communities up to 250,000 in population. The website was selected due to it being clear, concise, easy to navigate and because it is kept up to date with current information.
Board members Sally Wright, Joe McCarthy, coordinator Curtis Garrett and Executive Director William Heuberger attended the CS USA conference and received valuable training they will use to assist them in keeping Lamar County Crime Stoppers as one of the best crime stopper programs in Texas and the United States.
