On October 18th and 19th local cyclists can participate in the “Red Bud Ride” on the Northeast Texas Trail. In addition to cycling, participants will be planting red bud trees and other ornamentals.
On October 18th, riders will meet at the City Hall in Farmersville at 8am. Volunteers will be loading riders luggage, camping great, etc. into shuttle vehicles. Various route options – a mixture of trail and road for mountain bikes and a road route for road bikers will be explained. Similar to the Tour de Paris, there will be snack and drink rest stops along the way as well as shuttle vehicles and mechanics.
When riders arrive in Paris at the Love Civic Center, they will be planting red bud trees and other ornamentals at the trailhead. Following the planting, shuttles will be available to take riders to local hotels.
The following morning at 8am, cyclists will get back on the trail or road and head back to Farmersville. The route distance each day is approximately 75 miles.
The fee to ride both days is $49.95. If you purchase a meal ticket (2 lunches, dinner and breakfast) the fee is an extra $49.95.
