weeks001Lee S. Weeks, 83, of Lone Oak, passed from this life on Friday October 3, 2014 at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday October 9, 2014 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until noon on Thursday.

Lee was born March 2, 1931 in Waxahachie, a son of Thomas and Estelle Brown Weeks. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for two terms of service, then was mustered out as disabled. Not willing to give in to his disabilities, he became a diesel engine mechanic, spending his career in vehicle maintenance with the Safeway Corporation.
He married the former Dixie Lay on March 20, 1952 in Texarkana. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2014. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a step-brother Ray Jones, and a sister, Joan Weeks.

Lee is survived by two children, Thomas Lee Weeks and wife Michelle, of Quinlan and Linda Helen Clark and husband Jim, of Scurry; four grandchildren, Jason Clark, Lacy Clark, Thomas L. Weeks, Jr., and Jeanna Wright; a brother, Jimmy Weeks, of Plano; and a sister, Vivian Pruitt.

coomer001Shirley Ann Coomer, 67 of Paris, passed away Tuesday, October 07, 2014.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Henry Coomer; children, Jerry Wayne Shores, Angela Mae Jackson, Lee Ann Fisher, Roxanna Kay Shores, Sharon Renee’ Woods, Maudie Marie Hernandez, Lavada Murphy; grandchildren, David Humphrey, Jeremy Humphrey, Jensie and Jessie Buxton, Billy North, Spencer Shores and wife Karyl, Shancy Nelson, Shelby Nelson, Johnathan Shores, Meagan Birdsong, Lauren and Corey Price, Dustin Birdsong, Matthew and Candace Shores, Brian Shores, Kendra Woods, Tiffani Coomer, Jarred Coomer Joy Stinson, Ashley Henry; a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Humphrey, Donnie Humphrey, David Humphrey; sisters, JoAnn Hess, Cletta Mathis, Kathy Henry; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Juanita Humphrey; one brother and a sister-in-law.

She was known as maw-maw, grandma and “hun” by her husband. She was loved by so many and returned just as much love to everyone around her. She loved God, and was always in prayer for everyone.

TrussellTravis Trussell, 77, of Clarksville, Texas, passed from this life unexpectedly on Sunday October 5, 2014 at Paris Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Starrett Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service to be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 11, 2014 in the chapel of Lemons Funeral Home, 206 West 8th Street, Plainview, Texas, 79072. Officiating will be Bill Keele.

Travis was born March 14, 1937 in Snyder, Texas, a son of John and Lora Wood Trussel. He was a graduate of Hale Center schools, then spent a long career as a mechanic with Jack Morris Ford and Mackie’s Automotive in Plainview. He was a faithful Christian, worshiping at the Lamar Street Church of Christ in Paris, Texas.

Travis loved children and animals. In Plainview, he was a tireless volunteer with the Garland Street Church of Christ bus ministry and meticulously cared for a playa lake and it’s waterfowl. This playa lake was named in his honor as the Travis Trussell Duck Pond due to his hard work. In Amarillo, he was a volunteer with Amarillo Wildlife Refuge working closely with exotic animals including his favorite, white tigers. And most recently, in Clarksville, he was a Texas Master Naturalist, working closely with Texas Parks and Wildlife and Texas A&M University AgriLife Extension service, helping to educate Texans about the ecology of their state. These are a few of Travis’ many life services.

Travis was blessed to have been happily married twice! He married Nancy Phinney in 1958 and the two celebrated 42 years of joy. This union gave him the light of his life, his daughter Kelly. Nancy preceded Travis in death in 2000, and in 2003 he found new joy when he married the former Elizabeth Dale in Amarillo.

Travis was preceded in death by a cousin, Elois Pruitt, and by a brother, Morris Trussell.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth; one daughter, Kelly Schaffer, of Pampa; two sons, Gene Glaeser and wife Kaye, of Marble Falls, and Alan Glaeser, and wife Susan, of Midlothian; six grandchildren, Calvin Schaffer, Amber Maenius and husband Brandon, Jordan Glaeser, Derek Glaeser, Kyle Glaeser and Jaclyn Glaeser; one great-grandson, Ethan Maenius; several cousins, including Shirley Miller and Kathy Hall; and a brother, Tommy Trussell, of Lubbock.

Richard Warren Floyd, 79, left this world on Monday October 6, 2014 to go walk the highways and roads with his Lord. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Thursday October 9, 2014 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home following the service.

He was born December 3, 1934 in Paris, Texas, the son of William Lorenzoand Zoe Oreana Warren Floyd. He attended schools in Paris, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State University in Commere, Texas. He worked summers while going to school at the Texas Highway Department, and began work in the District Laboratory in Paris in 1959. He became supervisor for the Paris Lab, holding that position until his retirement in 1993.

Richard was always interested in his community, contributing his time to coaching Little League Baseball and working with the Boys Club. He enjoyed assisting local law enforcement agencies as a reserve officer. He was a member of the Lions Club, and held a lifetime membership.

His passion for the outdoors was evident in his love of hunting and fishing, as well as the conservation of wildlife. He was always comfortable in the woods, and found he was closest to God in the quiet of the woodlands.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ronald Dean Floyd and Rodney Marcus Floyd; and a brother, William Franklin Floyd.

Richard leaves behind his wife Sherry; five children, Richard Bradley Floyd, Lori Kai Floyd Bachman, Randy Kevin Floyd, Tami Lynn Floyd Miles and Wendi Lei Floyd Bailey; grandsons Kevin Ross Floyd, Ryan Colby Floyd Cody Shane Bachman; Chance Cameron Floyd, Matthew Blake Miles, Christian Ridge Floyd, Kellen Rhett Floyd; granddaughters Kacie Lei Bachman Salazar, Tisha Marie Floyd King, Christi Lynn Miles; great-grandchildren Colby Ryan Floyd, Emma Lynn Floyd, Cameron Sage Floyd, Alex Ridge Floyd and Rylin Ari King. Also surviving is a brother, David Marcus Floyd, and a sister, Sandra Jean Floyd Oyler.
