The North Lamar Education Foundation will host its annual “Tailgating for Scholarships” event onSaturday, October 18 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Love Civic Center. College and university alumni and fans will show their alma mater’s spirit while serving traditional tailgate cuisine. Proceeds will go toward scholarships for North Lamar graduates who plan to further their education beyond high school.
“The NLEF Tailgate Party is a family affair,” said North Lamar Public Information Officer Carla Coleman. “Guests are encouraged to support their favorite college or university by wearing their school’s T-shirt or jersey. The idea is for everyone to move from tailgate to tailgate sampling food.”
Guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite college or university. Each dollar collected will be counted as a vote. At the end of the night, the school with the most monetary votes will have a scholarship given in its honor at the end of the year. Baylor University acquired the most votes at the 2013 event and a scholarship was awarded to a North Lamar graduate who is attending Baylor this year.
Bidders can continue showing their support to NLEF by wrangling over an array of silent auction items. Guests will see such items as a Dallas Cowboy fire pit, barn wood Christmas tree, horseshoe rocking chair, Texas Motor Speedway passes and coupons, Burgerland party for 20, and four tickets to “The King and I” Dallas Summer Musical.

Other items sure to bring attention include North Lamar’s Name That Street, a 2015 Special Seating Gradation package, $100 gift certificate to the Fish Fry, NL Athletic Passes, and a 2014 Autographed Panther Football Helmet. Supporters will find something for all ages.
Advance tickets are available at any North Lamar campus or the NLISD administration building. Cost is $20 per adult and $10 per student. Prices at the door will be $25 and $15.
To obtain a sponsorship, supporters can chose a level of Platinum ($1,000 and above and 10 complimentary tickets), Gold ($500 to $999 and 6 complimentary tickets), Silver ($250 to $499 and 4 complimentary tickets), or Bronze ($100 to $249 and 2 complimentary tickets). For recognition in the program, sponsorships must be received by October 15 in the NLEF office at 3201 Lewis Lane, Paris, Texas, 75462 or by calling 903.737.2003 x 1500.
