Allen Lee Jumper, 84, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Bro. Patrick Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Jumper, the son of Victor Hugo & Minnie Lee Burnett Jumper, was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Lamar County.

He worked at B & W for seven years prior to beginning a career as a dairyman that spanned fifty years. He was a member of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Victor Amos Jumper and a sister, Elsie Jumper.

Survivors include his wife, Florice Gibson Jumper, whom he married on Sept. 28, 1949, building 63 years of family and memories, two sons, Jerron Jumper & Stacey Jumper both of Paris, grandchildren, Ronnie Jumper & wife Sharmin of Allen, Jeremy Jumper & wife Heather of Paris, Amanda Sims & husband Jamey of Paris and Leah Jumper of Paris, great grandchildren, Ryan Jumper, Nickolas Sims, Destinee Jones, Erika Sims, Ethan Sims, Robyn Cooke, Callie Jumper, Izabella Jumper & Damon Hebner along with a host of friends.

Casket bearers will be: Ronnie Jumper, Jeremy Jumper, Jamey Sims, James Boyd Gibson, Jimmy Darnell & Cleve Fendley.

Carl J. Cooper, Jr., 85, of Paris, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19th, at First United Methodist Church in Paris with Rev. Van Lazaroff officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rockwall Cemetery in Rockwall. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Cooper, the son of Carl J. Cooper, Sr. & Ethel Shaw Cooper, was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Dodd City, Texas.

He owned and operated Carl J. Cooper Insurance Agency for thirty years. Carl was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary Lynn Cooper on November 1, 1990, and by a sister, Jeanette Conn.

On Oct. 16, 1999, he married Trudye Hill Morris, and she survives him as does a daughter, Carlene Blessing & husband Brian of Rockwall, grandson, Russell Blessing of Galveston, step-daughter, Laura Litton of Saginaw, two step-grandchildren, Shonna Litton Brown & husband Adam of San Diego and Trey Litton of the home, a step-great granddaughter, Kaila Brown, a nephew, Don Conn, a niece, Janis Cook along with a plethora of friends.

Casket bearers will be: Steve Wright, Bob Jones, Curtis Meier, Mackey Charles, Dick Crawford and T. J. Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial, P. O. Box 1133, Paris, TX 75461.

Alvin Gale Morrison, 68 of Paris, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services have been set for Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Brad Crosswhite officiating.  Interment will follow at Long Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M.

He served in the United States Army and retired from Kimberly-Clark.

He is survived by his children, Gale Morrison and wife Tammy, Jeff Morrison, Terri Dickey and husband Michael; grandchildren, Jennifer Ellis and husband Jeremy, John McDonald and wife Valerie, Bradley Morrison and wife Gena, Brittany Wayland and husband Tyler, Stormie Carlson and husband Joshua, Jeffrey Morrison, Adrinna Morrison, Lakota Morrison, Colten Morrison, Eric Dickey, Kevin Dickey, Cameron Dickey; great-grandchildren, John McDonald Jr. Korbin McDonald, Bailey Ellis, Ethan Ellis, Kylee Morrison; sisters, Mary Flippen, Daphane Tackett and husband Thomas, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Josephine Morrison; brother; Linoel Morrison; sisters, Alta Beeler, Janet Preston; brother-in-law, Bob Flippen.

Irene Eisele0001Irene G. Eisele, 91, of Paris, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20th, at  Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Paris with The Reverend Michael Hurst officiating. Entombment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel Gardens Mausoleum at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Mrs. Eisele, the daughter of Blase & Joanna Ginther, was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Jackson, Michigan. She graduated from St. Mary’s Cathedral High School in Lansing, MI in 1939. In 1940 she was a stenographer for Capital National Bank in Lansing, and  in 1941, she was secretary & director of Promotion for Radio Station WJIM in Lansing. In 1947, she was station manager for Radio Station WGFG, in Kalamazoo, MI and in 1951 became director of Television Traffic for WJIM-TV in Lansing. In 1954 she became traffic manager for KGUL-TV in Houston, TX.

On May 25, 1957 she married John L. “Jack” Eisele in Houston, building forty-four years of family and memories before his death on Nov. 8, 2001.

The couple moved to San Antonio, TX in June of 1961 and to Dallas, TX in May of 1964. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Dallas where she served as bookkeeper for the church’s resale shop for 13 years, and was a member of the Vestry.

In 1981, they moved to Lake City, Colorado, where she and Jack owned and operated The General Store.  She was an active member of the Pioneer Jubilee Women’s Club, and served as vice-president of the Lake City Chamber of Commerce.

In 1993, they moved to Paris, TX where she was a member of Paris Newcomers Club, Holy Cross Episcopal Church, was a volunteer at Christus-St. Joseph’s Hospital & Paris Regional Medical Center, and a volunteer for RSVP.

Irene enjoyed golf, cooking, gardening and needlepoint.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Rev. Benjamin Ginther, Clement Ginther, Howard Ginther, Robert Ginther and Thomas Ginther, and a sister, Dorothy Ginther.

Survivors include two sons, J. Douglas Eisele & wife Karen of Houston and David Eisele of Paris, grandchildren, Ryan Eisele of Tulsa, OK, Nick Eisele of College Station, Rogan Eisele of Dallas and Raegan Eisele of College Station, a step-son, Peter Eisele & wife Mary & their children, Joseph & wife Arda  and  Heather & husband David  of Colorado Springs, CO,  along with numerous nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 2:00 P.M at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Kirtley officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening.

HA001HOLLEY HAMMOND ABELS, 88, of Blossom, passed from this life Monday December 17, 2012 at his residence, after a brief illness. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct graveside rites at 3:00 p.m. Thursday December 20, 2012 at Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom, with Rev. Jim Hilton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Holley was born November 30, 1924 in Blossom, a son of William Hammond and Elsie Holley Abels. He graduated from Blossom High School, then entered the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. For his honorable military service he received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon and Bronze Star, and the Army of Occupation Ribbon in Japan. He was a lifelong member of the Blossom United Methodist Church and for many years served as church secretary. Following his service to his country, he returned to the place of his birth and was a lifelong farmer. He also worked as a bus driver for both Blossom and Prairiland schools. He was a former Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts.

Holley married Lillie Mae Daniel on July 3, 1969 in Paris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Anna Rebecca Dunagan; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Daniel and James A. Dunagan; a sister-in-law, Dovie Stephens; and two nieces, Rose Ann Figueroa and Betty Bybee.

Holley is survived by his wife Lillie, of the home; numerous nieces and nephews, including Liz and Phil Williams, James and Sharon Dunagan, John and Donna Dunagan, David Scott Dunagan, Mary Lancaster, Martha Stephens, James Stephens, Jackie Daniel, Cindy Daniel, Linda Cheney, Christie Daniel, and Bo Daniel; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Daniel Chesney.

roberts, royce PNRoyce James Roberts, 78, of the Globe community went home to be with his Lord and savior Tuesday December 18, 2012. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Saturday Dec. 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Dickey and Rev. Brad Michael officiating. Burial will follow at Pyles cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday.

He was born November 8, 1934 in Unity, Texas the son of James E. and Clara Lee Magnuson. He moved to Fort Worth in the early 1950’s where he met the love of his life Jacqueline Jean Goins of Bridgeport, Texas. Together they raised two children before a job opportunity returned him to the Paris area in 1982. Royce made his living as a truck driver, retiring from Earthgrains, however, his true passion was farming and raising cattle. He achieved this dream in his retirement years. Royce was a longtime member of MaxeyBaptistChurch.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jacqueline in 2010 and his parents.

Survivors include children Rick Roberts and wife Linda of Watagua, Sherry Perry and husband Joe of Farmers Branch; grandchildren Melanie Hammel, John Roberts and wife Lorena, Craig Roberts; great grandchildren Andre Zermeno, Haley Zermeno, Gavin Roberts; and a sister Loy Fisher of Ft. Worth.

Jesse Lee Towers, Jr., 77, of Paris passed away Tuesday December 18, 2012 at Brentwood Terrace Health Care. Cremation arrangements were made by Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

He was born November 1, 1935 in Paris a son of JesseLeeTowers, Sr. and Wandella Ingle Towers. He married JoAnn Lay in Paris in 1983. He served his country in the Army. He worked for the Texas Highway Department and was a member of Paris Church of God.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn, children Kelly Whitley and spouse Sherman, Carla Carmon, Lawrence Murray; 5 grandchildren Kory, Kameron, KaLeigh, Karli Jo, Krisanna; 2 great grandchildren Gavin and Alexis; step-children Debbie Johnson, Karen Murray, Danny Melvin, Charles Dale Melvin; brothers Eddie Towers and spouse Janice, Doug Towers and spouse Donna; sisters Jeanette Eydani and spouse Nasser,  Cynthia Ann Chappell and spouse Willard; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lisa Michelle Foster, 47, of Paris passed away Wednesday December 19, 2012 at Brentwood Terrace. She was born on October 27, 1965 in Mesquite, Texas a daughter of James O. and Dora Mae Watson Foster. She was a Unit Secretary for the hospital.

She is survived by her children Leigha Musick and husband Frankie of Sumner and Whitney Stone of Paris; mother Dora Mae Foster; siblings Linda Kyle and husband Glen of Paris and Teresa Foster of Paris; grandchildren Steven Corsey, Jr. and Cameron Corsey; several nieces and nephews and aunts.

Burial will follow at Cherry Mound cemetery near Bells, Texas. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service Wednesday 10 until 11 a.m.

He was born February 12, 1925 in Grayson County a son of Abner L. and Cordie Bell McCarthy Hodge. He was married to Floye Marie Styles and after her death he married Maggie D. Shields. He was a supervisor with the City of Denison water department and a member of Springlake Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

Survivors include his wife Maggie Hodge; children William Hodge and wife Vickie, Judy Harris and husband James, Joyce Martin and husband Jerry; step-children Joe Smith and wife Carol, Carolyn Scott, Janice Smith and husband L. Mr. Jordan was born January 11, 1922 in Blossom, Texas to George and Cora Bell Cherry Jordan.  He married Mamie R. Gallander on December 22, 1939.  She died March 7, 2008.  He was retired from Red River Arsenal and served in the US Army during World War II.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Jordan is survived by his daughter, Debra Nolen of Clarksville; four grandchildren, Michelle Ervin and husband, Chris, Gary Nolen, all of Clarksville, Chesley and Emily Jordan, both of Palestine, Texas; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Buford R. Jordan and wife, Carolyn of Paris and Douglas Jordan of Texarkana, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Howard Wayne Jordan; his parents; and two sisters, Ruby Pate and Joyce Roseberry.

Pallbearers will be Chris Ervin, Larry Nolen, Mark Nolen, Dickie Towers, John Thompson, and Roy Dean Pate.  Honorary pallbearers are Joe Hasenak, Johnny Nolen, Buford Jordan, Doug Jordan, Bruce Roseberry, Bryan Roseberry, Willard Leverett, and Nolan Pate.

Mrs. Smith, the daughter of Albert Andrew & Gracie Elizabeth Crews Turk, was born Sept. 7, 1929, in the Blakeney Community of Red River County.

She worked as a Home Health Provider and did babysitting for all her grandchildren. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Willis Hill “Bud” Hamil, her second husband, Otis Smith, Jr., two brothers, Robert Houston Turk & Albert William Turk, and a sister, Dorothy Lowrey.

Survivors include four children, Linda Hamil Strickland of Powderly, Judy Hamil Jamar of Paris, Wendell Hamil of Sumner and Durrell Hamil of Powderly, grandchildren, Christa Strickland Brown, Dustin Strickland, Tony Webster, Shelby Jamar, Kelli Hamil Luma, Rusty Hamil, Shannon Hancock, Billy Doyle & Candice Hicks,  great grandchildren, Hayden Brooke Brown, Kade Webster and Mason Webster and  several other great grandchildren, brothers, J. Marion Burrow 20001Marion D. Burrow, 73, of Paris, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23rd, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Reger & Rev. Ronald Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery.

Marion, the son of Dock & Florence Thompson Burrow, was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Red River County.

He was stationed in Korea while serving in the U. S. Army. Marion retired from Exum  Plumbing where he was known as the Roto-Rooter Man. He  was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He had a love of antique cars and trucks and had won a number of trophies in competition.

Survivors include his wife, Delena Scott Burrow, whom he married on Nov. 10, 1967, building forty-five years of memoires, a brother, Ronnie Burrow of Clarksville, a sister, Sharon Mabry & husband Gene of Clarksville, his sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Sharon & Johnny Exum of Paris along with many friends.

Casket bearers will be: Randy Mahan, Johnny McFadden, Mark Fendley, Glenn Davis, Dale Hicks and Ronnie Baker.

Amanda, the daughter of Lee Jay & Helen Maxine Wheeler Deming, was born July 4, 1964, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.  She graduated from Smithville High School in Smithville, TX in 1982. She was an administrative assistant for David Glass Investments, LLC. Amanda was a proud member of the Army Mom’s.

Her parents, a brother, Daniel Deming & a nephew, Daniel Deming preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons, David Wayne Miller, Jr. of Reno, Steven DeWayne Miller & wife Angela Marie of Ft. Bliss – El Paso, and Jeremy Ray Miller of Reno, a sister, Helen Deborah “Debbie” Measom & husband Raleigh (who reared her) of Gonzales, TX,  two brothers, John Jay Deming & wife Sharon of Bruno, AR and Mark Lewis Deming of AR, grandchildren, Aubrianna Reese “Aubrey” Miller and David Wayne Miller, III, nieces & nephews, Karina Ann Ochs, Joseph Lee Measom, Christina Grifaldo, Russell E. Troy Gene Gibbens, 84, of Paris, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.  A graveside service is set for 2:30 PM, Friday, December 28, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Judi Brandt officiating.  No formal visitation hour will be observed.  Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Troy was born August 1, 1928 in Atlas to William T. and Arthur Mattie Caldwell Gibbens.  The family lived in Electra, San Antonio and Corpus Christi prior to moving back to Paris.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952 stationed in Korea and Japan.  He later worked at Campbell Soup in Paris for 28 years before retiring.  He lived in Powderly for the last fifteen years before moving to The Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham in late October of this year.

Mr. Gibbens was preceded in death by his parents; all three of his brothers, S.P., Roland, and Tommy Gibbens; one sister, Ina Bill Williams; and a nephew, Larry Bob Williams.  He is survived by one sister, Norma Neal and a sister-in-law, Betty Gibbens.  He is also survived by seven nieces, Janita Parker, Kathy Lee, Janet Gibbens, Terrie Ogle, Katy Donovan, Sherry Hale and Karen Sumner; and two nephews, Tommy Gibbens, Jr. and Allen Gibbens.

Linda Rae Winter0001Linda Rae Winters, 68, of Paris, formerly of McCurtain County, OK, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at her home with her daughters, Trina & Trudy and grandson, Branson Tyler, at her side.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 2601 Lamar Ave., Paris, TX 75460, one hour prior to the service.

Linda, the daughter of Harchel & Ellie Paulk Ginn, was born Feb. 15, 1944, in Idabel, OK.

Linda grew up in Idabel & graduated from Idabel High School in 1962.

She had a great love of music and played the piano & organ at many services in the southeast Oklahoma area. She enjoyed sewing & crocheting. Linda did abstracting with Southern Abstract Company in Idabel and Pushmataha Abstract in Antlers and for various attorneys. She was secretary for the director of the Oklahoma State Health Department with the environmental division in Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Cecil Ginn and her lifelong friend, Rita Vandergriff.

She was born September 2, 1953 in Cooper, TX a daughter of Rudolph and Martha Lucille Reed Thomas. She married James Allen Reaves, Jr. in Paris August 23, 1981. She was a Nurse for Jordan Home Health Services. She attended of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by a son Joseph Emory Reaves; parents Rudolph and Martha Lucille Thomas; siblings Roy Thomas, Carroll Dake, Sr., Lou Roberts and Kenneth Thomas.

Survivors include her husband James Allen Reaves, Jr.; sons Michael Scott, Charles Howard Thomas, Lloyd O’Dell McKinley and wife Ashley, James Allen Reaves III and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Thomas Scott Howard, Jonathan Young, Britney Young, Felicity Reaves, Erin Grace Reaves, Emory Reaves, Ashley Wise, Lindsey Wise; brother Walter Circles, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born on January 19, 1940 in Black Springs, Arkansas a daughter of W.A. and Rosa Lee Bobo Ferguson. She was a member of Abundant Life Church at Minter and was retired from the Rockwall Independent School District. On January 19, 1963 she married Billy Parker in Paris, Texas.

Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband Billy Parker of the home; son Gary Lee Parker of Paris; brothers Wayne Dwight Ferguson of Paris and Charles Ray Ferguson and wife Mary of Paris; sister Dolores Eudy of Paris; several nieces and nephews.

Charlie was born February 3, 1930 in Paris to Cletus Virgil and Mae Alberta Yates Brown.  He married Rosie May Pearce on April 22, 1954 and she preceded him in death January 26, 1986.  He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War.  Mr. Brown was a life-long Baptist and had served as a deacon.

He is survived by his daughter, Katharine Maye Crosthwait and husband, Glenn of Atlanta, Georgia; two granddaughters, Dr. Sara Elizabeth Oliver and husband, Alan of Birmingham, Alabama and Anna Katharine Crosthwait of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace and Caleb Alan Oliver of Atlanta; one brother, Jackie Brown and wife, LaJoyce of Waxahachie, Texas; and numerous extended family members.

Erma, the daughter of Henry & Josie Vick Donham, was born March 23, 1932, in Roxton. In 1949, she graduated from Roxton High School. She was a member of the Roxton United Methodist Church. Her retirement came after many years of service at Hollywood Vasarette & then with  Munsingwear  after  they bought Vasarette.

She was a volunteer for fifteen years at Paris Regional Medical Center North Campus.

Her parents and a brother, Thomas Donham, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a brother, Troy Donham of Paris, two sisters, Lena Scott & husband Harold of Paris and Louise Stotts of Roxton, her loving family, Michael & Marlo Scott of Rowlett & their daughter Mallory, Marty & Holly Scott of Paris and their children,  Kimberlyn & Kameron, Danny & Jenny Stotts of Mt. Wayne Caviness0001Stanley Wayne Caviness, 79, of Paris, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2nd at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Norris officiating and honors provided by the Paris Police Department. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family will have a meal at Southside Baptist Church before the visitation, and Faye would like family and friends to join her there.

Mr. Caviness, the son of Jack & Ruby Payne Caviness, was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Lamar County.

He attended Powderly schools and then entered the military serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he worked at the Coca Cola Plant and at Ford’s Market before beginning his career with the Paris Police Department. He retired from the police department as a sergeant following 30 years & 7 months service. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Paris Masonic Lodge.

His parents, a sister, Lois Payne & a brother, Jessie Caviness preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Tomblin Caviness, a daughter, Karen Mitcham of Huffman, grandchildren, Johnny Grant of Huffman and Alisha Self & husband Jared of Conroe, great grandchildren, Colby Grant of Huffman and Lexi Self of Conroe, a sister, Martha Daughtrey of Denton along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Margaret was born September 11, 1921 in Bonham, Texas to Jesse and Elizabeth Boatner.  She graduated from high school and received her nursing training at St. Paul’s Hospital in Dallas.  She married Henry G. Duke who preceded her in death.  Mrs. Spray was an executive secretary for Northwest Oil Company in Dallas for 25 years and following her move to Paris, worked as a United States Census Taker.  She was a founding member of Covenant Christian Church.

She is survived by a son, Richard M. Duke of Bradenton, Florida; four grandchildren, Tiffany Michelle Lehman and husband, Jason of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Bryan Michael Duke of Houston, Geoffrey Duke, and Gregory Duke of Dallas; four great-grandchildren, Madisyn Michelle Lehman, Jackson Broderick Lehman, Owen Chance Lehman, and Colson Thomas Lehman.  She was preceded in death by one son, Russell Warren Duke; one sister; and five brothers.

Miller-PNShirley Jo Whitten Miller, 92 formerly of Paris, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 in McKinney, Texas.

Funeral services have been planned for Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Cannon officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

She was born on January 21, 1920 to Joe Whitten and Laura Isabel Gates Whitten.    She taught school in Lamar County Public Schools and worked in the Rail Transportation Office at Camp Maxey during World War II. She was office manager for Harold Hodges Insurance for many years and was a case worker for the Department of Human Services and transferred to the Social Security office and retired after 16 years of federal service. She was a member of C’est LaVie Luncheon club, Modern Study Club and was a member of First Baptist Church of Paris.

She loved to cook and share the food as well as her recipes with everyone.

She married Eldon Miller on January 23, 1943. They had one daughter Judy Miller Linck. Eldon preceded her in death on August 2, 1999.

She is survived by son in law, Pete Linck of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Cary Linck and wife Tracy; great-grandkids Carter and Abigail all of McKinney; sister, Rebecca Malone; nephews, Tommy Whitten and wife Linda, Mike Malone all of Paris, Mike Miller and wife Brenda of Mt. Herman, LA; niece, Patti Smith and husband Brad of Houston.

In addition to her husband of 56 years she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Paul Whitten and James Whitten and daughter Judy Miller Linck.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Ray Walters, Walter Cooper,  Jimmy Moore,  Tommy Whitten, Mike Malone, Mike Miller.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.  Inurnment of his ashes will take place at a later date at theNational Cemetery.

He was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on August 10, 1943 to Otha Clifton and Marie Overstreet Treadway.  He married Jeanne Smolowitz on May 25, 1963 in Nyack, New York. He was retired from the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Treadway; children, Lisa Marie Treadway Martin Vest and husband Larry Shane, Andrew Clifton Treadway and wife Nicole; grandchildren, Lacey Marie Martin, Kerri Beth Martin, Mia N. Treadway, Joshua Treadway; sister, Sadie Irene Treadway Friolie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.


Eddie Glenn Copeland, 46, of Paris passed away Monday December 31, 2012 at Dubuis Hospital in Paris. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 2, 2013 at Prairie Ridge cemetery with Pastor Robert Myre officiating. There will not be a formal visitation.

Eddie was born April 22, 1966 in Paris a son of Billy June Copeland Sr. and Robbie Neil Christian Copeland. He was an air conditioner repairman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy June Copeland Sr. and a brother Jeffrey Copeland.

partridge001Ricky C. Partridge, 59, a lifetime Paris resident, passed from this life unexpectedly at his home on Monday December 31, 2012.  Cremation was provided by Starrett Funeral Home. There will be no formal memorial observance, but friends are invited and welcomed to call at the family residence.

Ricky was born September 7, 1953 in Paris, a son of Delmer and Dorothy Layton Partridge. He was a graduate of Paris High School, and employed in the Maintenance Division of Paris Regional Medical Center, where he had worked for twenty-five years. Ricky had a love of fishing and gardening, and enjoyed time spent together with friends.

He married Nancy Duckworth on March 23, 1981 in Paris. They lovingly renewed their vows on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary in 2006.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Partridge; his father, Delmer Partridge; two brothers, Delmer Gene Partridge and Robert Dale Partridge;  his mother-in-law, Christine Robertson; and a brother-in-law, Robert Lee Duckworth, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; a son, Clinton Wayne Layton, of Paris; his mother, Dorothy Layton Partridge Goss, of Paris; two brothers, Danny Ray Partridge and wife Marsha, of California and Paul Edward Partridge and wife Barbara, of Paris; a brother-in-law, Thomas Duckworth, of Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Sherry Waller and husband Frank, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Linda Lee, of Sweetwater; his father-in-law, Robert Lee Duckworth, of Sweetwater; his four-legged buddy, Murphy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Anderson, the son of Nick & Maggie Newkirk Anderson, was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Lamar County.

In 1955 he married Dora Fay O’Neal building fifty-five years of family and memories before her death on Oct. 5, 2010.

He was a carpenter and cabinet maker. He was always in a band and loved playing music. In his younger years, he was a pitcher in fast pitch softball and enjoyed coon hunting

Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Marty Anderson on Jan. 19, 2005,  and by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include three children, Tammy Daugherty & husband Todd of Powderly, Danny Anderson & wife Susan of Powderly and Teddy Wayne Anderson, Jr.  & wife Sarah of Paris, grandchildren, Connie Lester & husband Charlie, Nick Anderson, Shawn Winton, D. jack001Gloria Manon Seawell Jack, 87, of Dallas, died peacefully Monday, December 31, 2012 at Medical City Hospital, with Ollie, her husband of 66 years and two sons in loving attendance.

Funeral services will be conducted by Starrett Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Friday January 4, 2013 at the Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas with Dr. David Matthews and Rev. Ray Vickrey officiating. Interment will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday January 5, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas, with Gene Stallings officiating.

Gloria was born August 29, 1925 in Ft. Worth, a daughter of Albert and Manon Seawell. She grew up in Dallas and Ft. Worth with brothers Marshall, Bill and Albert Jr.  She was the granddaughter of F.M. McConnell, a well-known preacher, writer and longtime editor of the Baptist Standard.   She graduated from Paschal High School in Ft. Worth and received an academic scholarship to Baylor University.  At age 20 she graduated Cum Laude with a double major in Spanish and English.  She then taught Spanish and English at Baylor University.

While at Baylor she met Ollie Jack and they married in 1946.  After Ollie’s graduation they lived in Dallas and New Orleans while he worked on degrees at Tulane University.  In 1954 they left New Orleans for Caracas, Venezuela.  They also lived in Amway, Venezuela, Bogota, Colombia, Miami, Florida and Kingston, Jamacia, before moving to Dallas in 1969 where they lived until the time of her death.

She was an active member of the Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas, where she taught Sunday School for many years, was President of the Women’s auxiliary and headed the Library and Kitchen committees.   Contesting was her hobby and she won numerous big prizes.  She was a two-time finalist in the Pillsbury Bake-Off in New York and Hawaii, and assisted many friends and family members in becoming winners, also.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by two brothers, Marshall and Albert Seawell.

Gloria is survived by her husband Ollie, two sons, James Marshall Jack and Robert Oliver Jack of Dallas; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Jack Stallings and husband Bebes (Gene) Stallings of Paris, and Martha McGinty of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Named as honorary casket bearers is the Faith Formations Class, her Sunday School Class at Royal Lane Baptist Church.

He was born in Oklahoma the son of Boyd and Nell Billingsley Childers on May 15, 1948. He was in pest control working for over 30 years for Protex Service Inc.

whitaker pnJuanita Caldwell Whitaker, 79, of Paris passed away December 27, 2012 in Rockwall, Texas.

She was born on November 10, 1933 in Blossom, Texas a daughter of William Owen and Elizabeth Sutton Caldwell. She worked in the office at Westinghouse for 7 years and then she was office manager for Paris Hide & Fur Company for 14 years before retired. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in Senior Adult 1 Sunday School Class. Juanita was a member of Torchbearer Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for 47 years and was also a member of the Good Earth Garden Club.

She married Elmer Neil Whitaker on February 12, 1954 in Paris. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Earl Caldwell.

Daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends were the joy of her life. Renee` and Jonee` were her best friends. She and Mr. Whitaker were philanthropic to many clubs and organizations.

Juanita is survived by her daughter Renee` Wright and husband Johnny of Paris; granddaughter Jonee` Shifflet and husband Shane of Rockwall; grandson John Wright and wife Carrie of Euless; great granddaughter Devyn Shifflet of Rockwall; sisters Faye Welch and husband Jack of Paris, Vivian Sayler and husband Roy of Dallas, Marilyn Harvey and husband Dick of Paris; sister-in-law Nan Rose of Paris; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins her aunt Jo Weast of Joshua, Tx and many friends.

Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at Evergreen Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 with Rev. Henry Blackmon officiating. Her body will lie in state at the funeral home until that time and no formal visitation is planned. Her family will be gathered at her home in Blossom.

Frances was born October 29, 1921 in Idabel, Oklahoma to parents Purdom Armfield Morris and Lilly Floyce Livingston Morris. Her brothers were Carl, Bill and Ed Morris and her sister was Geneva Wolf. They all preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death on November 29, 2002 was her husband, Carlous “Buck” Dorries, whom she married February 28, 1942. She and Buck were associated with Blossom Telephone Company for many years.

Blossom survivors are son C. M. “Mick” Dorries, daughter-in-law Joyce Dorries, grandson Clint Dorries and wife Kelly; grandson Matt Dorries; great-grandchildren Payden, Casey Keara and Evan Dorries.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Longoria and husband Ben of DeSoto, Texas and a granddaughter Meagan Longoria of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by a niece, Martha Wolf Jackson of Onalaska, Texas and a nephew Carl Wolf and wife Deborah of New Caney, Texas.

The family would like to thank Dr. Surber and staff for all their great care and Cypress Basin Hospice who provided such wonderful service, attention and encouragement these past three weeks.

Pruett-PNHobert Lee “Cotton” Pruett, Jr., 67 of Novice, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services with full Military rites has been scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 A.M.at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Aldridge officiating.  Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Fry-Gibbs Funeral home on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.

He retired from the United States Army as Major.

He is survived by his wife DiAnne Gresham Pruett; children, Sean Pruett, Peyton Pruett McMonigle and husband Thomas, Christopher Pruett, Ashlea Pruett McKinnis and husband Levi; grandchildren, Dustin Pruett, Jordan Pruett, Erin McMonigle, Mason Spangler, Ava McMonigle, Matthew McKinnis, Micah McKinnis, Minnie McKinnis.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hobert Pruett, Sr.; mother, Jewell Deffenbaugh; sister, Joyce Swafford.

Eva was born one of fourteen children to Albert Jack and Eva Lela Brown Hawkins on April 23, 1932 in the Biardstown Community of Lamar.  She married Eddie C. Cooper on April 7, 1949 at RamseurBaptistChurch in Paris.  She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Casey Dale Cooper and Paige Cooper; two sisters, Pat Childress and husband, John of Sulphur Springs and Linda Haley and husband, J.D. of Forney; and one brother, Harold Hawkins of Sulphur Springs.  Mrs. Cooper’s husband, Eddie C. Cooper preceded her in death October 6, 2001. Also preceding in death by her three sons, Jerry Dale Cooper, Randy Clay Cooper, and Kenneth Craig Cooper; and ten siblings, Nell Exum, Monell Hawkins, Doris Uquhart, Sadie Hurley, A.J. Hawkins, Mae Powell, Ray Hawkins, her twin, Treva Nall, Wendell Hawkins, and Betty Ray.

malone pnJack Reginald Malone, 84, of Paris passed away December 24, 2012 at Heritage House of Paris surrounded by family and caregivers.

Mr. Malone was the oldest of four children born to Curtis and Nina Harris Malone. Jack was born on January 11, 1928 in Clardy, Texas. He was a truck driver, farmer, and rancher. Jack was a member of the Glory Baptist Church, past member of the Elks Lodge, attended Masonic Lodge #27 and was a 32nd degree Mason, and was also a Shriner. He served in the U.S. Navy.

On September 13, 1946 he married the former Ruby Mae Moore in Roxton, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Malone, sisters Nancy Stallings and Martha Vaughn and husband Donald.

Mr. Malone is survived by his children Jackie Wilson and husband Larry, Kathy Bolton and husband Johnny, June Williams and husband Charles all of Paris and Sandy Malone-Martin and husband Ron of Plano, TX. He also is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law Jim Stallings.

Memorial graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 11, 2013 in Evergreen Cemetery with Rodney Sprayberry, Chaplain of Hospice Plus officiating. The family would like to thank Stephanie, Chance, Sarah, Jose, Angie and Lisa of Hospice Plus for their wonderful care of our dad as well as the staff of Heritage House.

giffordPNSandra Ruth Parks Gifford, 65, of Paris, died Saturday, January 4, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.  Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Glynn Vickers and Rev. Ben Read officiating.  Burial will be in Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.  Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Sandra was born in Deport, Texas, on October 22, 1947.  She was the daughter of Forrest Parks and Margaret Tomlinson Parks.  She attended school in Deport and graduated from East Texas State University (Texas A&M Commerce) with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English.  She was granted a doctoral fellow at Oklahoma State University.

She was a graduate assistant in the English Department at East Texas State University.  She taught English at Mt. Pleasant High School, freshman English at Oklahoma State University, English at Edmond, Oklahoma High School, and English at Paris High School.

Sandra was chosen Texas State Secondary Teacher of the Year in 1991.  She was on the Texas Task Force on Professional Preparation/Development in 1993.  She received the Optimist Volunteer Award in 1994.  She received the R. Leigh Oliver Excellence in Teaching Award in 1996.  In 1996 she was awarded the State Bar of Texas Merit Award.  In 1996 she was given the State Board of Education Recognition for Scenario Coaches.  In that same year, she received the Regional Teacher of the Year award and the Medal of Merit from the Air Force Association.  She gave numerous conference presentations and addresses for Paris Independent School District, the Texas Association of Gifted and Talented, the Texas Education Agency Regional Conference, and the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.  She was the author of five articles in educational publications and had been a member of the National Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association, Texas Association for Gifted and Talented, and Delta Kappa Gamma, Lamar Reading Council, and Friends of the Library.  She was a National Consultant for McGraw-Hill from February 1999 until August 2012 and was the most requested of all the consultants.

Sandra was a long-time member of Calvary Methodist and had served on numerous committees and was currently chair of the Endowment Committee.  She had recently been appointed to the Paris Education Foundation.  She was also a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Margaret Parks, of Deport.  She is survived by her daughter, Amy Gifford Williams, of Rockwall, her granddaughter, Victoria, Amy’s father and Victoria’s grandfather, Jim Gifford of Paris, and a host of friends and former students who loved her immensely.

She was a dedicated teacher and a gifted consultant for her textbook company.  She loved to read and travel and had been all over the country as an educational consultant.  She traveled extensively in Western and Eastern Europe and Alaska and Hawaii.  She was an accomplished gardener and photographer.

She was born May 13, 1939 in Mangum, OK a daughter of J.B. and Lahoma Stamps Hardwick. She was married to Roy Jennings until his death on Dec. 14, 2007 after 27 years of marriage. She was a dietician cook for St. Joseph’s Hospital working there for 26 years. She was a member of Glory Baptist Church.

Her parents preceded her in death; husband Roy, son Cecil Jr. Thompson; sisters LaQuita Crawford and Betty Jean Smith

Survivors include children, Kathy Schaffer of Deer Trail, CO, Cynthia Thompson of Paris, Tammy Woolridge of Kilgore, Angela Mahowe of Paris, Rhonda Kindle of Blackwall, OK; 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and a sister Moena Koeltzow of Greeley, Co.

Mrs. Fletcher, the daughter of Belton & Doyles Frederick Musgrove, was born October 11, 1928, in Arkansas. She was a homemaker, attended beauty school, and became a cosmetologist. Geraldine owned & operated several beauty salons in Dallas. She was a member of the Alders Gate Methodist Church in Dallas where she taught Sunday school a number of years. She was a member of the Llewellyn Uplift Club in Dallas and enjoyed bowling and she & her husband, George, were on bowling leagues.

Eleven years ago she and her husband moved to Paris from Dallas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Fletcher, whom she married on Sept. 6, 1947, building 63 years of family and memories before his death on May 7, 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Mansfield & husband Sam of Richardson and Susan Nash of Paris, grandchildren, Holli Mullinix of Frisco, Carri Newnham & husband Matt of Richardson and Christopher Nash of Paris, great grandson, Ethan Mullinix of Frisco, two sisters, Ruth Fisher & husband L. S. of Granbury and Saundra Marquis of Belton along with several nieces, nephews & a host of friends.

d pnJames Earl Donham, 66, of Roxton passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at his residence.

James was born on March 27, 1946 in Roxton a son of James Madison (Matt) and Gladys Jeter Donham. He was retired from Kimberly Clark, was a member of the Roxton First Baptist Church, and a member of American Legion Post 30. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Bar, Expert Rifle Bars and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Citation Badge. James liked to hunt, fish, play dominoes and enjoyed joking around with his family and friends. He loved to be with his grandchildren. On December 31, 1991 he married Teresa Porterfield in Paris, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ellis, Johnnie, Matt Jr., and Wayne Donham, and a sister Bonnie Ortego.

James is survived by his wife Teresa; children Tony Donham and wife Connie of Amarillo, Roddy Allen and wife Teresa of Paris and Tina Meruelo and husband Gabe of Merrit Island, Florida; grandchildren Paige Donham, Macy Allen, Linda Meruelo, Gabe Jr. Meruelo, Grayson Meruelo, Corey Allen, and Joey Allen; great grandson Trace Donham; sisters Mary Lou Branum, Ruby Rich, and Pat Emery; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Bro. Jackie Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Cemetery at Roxton with military honors provided by U.S. Honor Guard from Ft.Hood. Sharon Ann Sweet, 66, of Paris died Monday December 31, 2012 at her home. Cremation was arranged by Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Services will be held at a later date.

She was born in California a daughter of Jerry Wesley and Vera Gertrude Green Tarrwater. She was a homemaker and a member of the Living Word Assembly of God.

Survivors include her children Steven Sweet of Ada, OK, David Sweet of Paris, Sherry Sweet of Lawton, OK, Tina Bradley of Hickory, OK; 13 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.

He was a truck driver and enjoyed coon hunting and dog trading.

His wife, Cherry Lynn Smith Lester, preceded him in death on August 18, 2012.

Survivors include five children, Rufus Charles Lester & wife Nancy of Sumner, John Robert Lester & wife Cheth of Lamar Point, James Smith & wife Kellie of Paris, Shirley Harris & husband George of Paris and Robert D. Mrs. Burch was born January 19, 1950 in Paris to Paul Finley and Jeanetta Boren Finley.  She married Walter Eugene Burch, January 20, 1969 and he preceded her in death November 30, 2001.  Mrs. Burch was a member of Graham Street Baptist Church and she loved all kinds of crafts.  She had been employed at the Texas Workforce Commission, and she will be missed by her co-workers.  Her parents precede her in death.

Survivors include one brother, Richard Finley & wife Vickie of Brookston; two step-daughters, Genia Deluca of OK and Daphne Villareal of KY; 6 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Mr. Daughtrey, the son of Clay “Pamp” & Theo Roberts Daughtrey, was born May 20, 1933, in Lamar County.

He attended Powderly Schools and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His career with Campbell Soup Company spanned thirty years before his retirement in 1992. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He had a great interest in tractors and was a member of the Red River Valley Antique Tractor Club. He enjoyed sports & especially basketball. He enjoyed bluegrass music, and he & his wife, Nancy, were members of a supper club that meets the third Saturday night of the month.

His parents and four brothers, O. J., Edwin, Jay Bo, and Glen, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, whom he married on Jan. 11, 1955, exactly 58 years on the day he passed away, a daughter, Vicki & husband Richard of Paris, grandchildren – who were the light of his life-, Dustin & Alicia of Ft. Smith, AR, Lindsay & Paul of Branson, MO, Chassidy of Paris and Connor of Paris, great grandchildren, Hannah, Lilya, Owen and Cora Beth, sisters, Margarette & husband Harold of Bartlett, TN, Jeannie & husband James of Powderly, Fay & husband J. D. of Powderly and Belle of Tyler along with several nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.

Dorries-mem2Jerry Randall Dorries, age 57, of Chicota, also known as #5 passed from this life on Friday, January 11, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

A graveside service has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Long Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Chris Kelley officiating.  The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on May 29, 1955 in Baird, Texas to Allison and Frances Dorries.  He worked in construction before finding his passion as a truck driver.  He spent his later years enjoying time with his family and riding motorcycles with his loving wife, Gail.  He loved spending time with his three grandchildren and other loved ones.  He married Cynthia Gail Borden on May 27, 1974 in Lancaster, Texas.  Together they had three children.  Jerry and Gail spent 38 memorable years together.

He leaves behind his wife, Gail of the home; two children, Christy Elmore of Chicota, Shane Dorries of Blossom; three grandchildren, Brandon Dorries of the home, Kristin and Sara Elmore of Chicota; two sisters, Sondra Jarvis and Evelyn Adams; brother Gene Dorries and a host of nieces, nephews, many other family members and friends.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jim Hyatt, Pete Hyatt, Toni Clarkson and Platinum Hospice for helping us care for him in his last days.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Dorries; his parents; 2 sisters, Barbara Grant and Margie Elliot.

ibarnettPN (1)Inez Gibson Barnett, 96, of Paris, died at 8:50 PM, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at The Heritage House of Paris.  Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Scott officiating.  Entombment will be at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the foyer of the chapel.  Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Barnett was born in the Pinhook Community of Lamar County October 10, 1916, to Rance and Effie Arnold Gibson.  She attended Walnut Ridge School.  She married Jack Barnett August of 1932.  This union lasted until his death in October 2004 after 72 years of marriage.

Her vocation in life was obstetrical nursing.  Her first experience with nursing was in the early 1950’s at St. Joseph Hospital in Paris.  She later attended nursing school there; graduating at the top of her class.  She then went to work at the Sanitarium of Paris, later renamed McCuistion Regional Medical Center, where she retired after 35 years of service.  According to Inez, “she caught many a new baby”.

Inez was a woman of varied talents; many born of necessity.  She was accomplished at dressmaking, reupholstering furniture, quilting, ceramics, flower gardening, cooking, canning, and much more.

Inez became a Christian at an early age, and was active in her local church wherever her family lived.  She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church from January 1, 1954 until her death.  She served her church in many capacities over the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and one son-in-law.  She is survived by her sister, Ruby Fox; four daughters, Melba Claymon and her husband, John, Sue Anderson and her husband, Bill, Joan St. John, and Ellen Whitaker and her husband, Mel; grandchildren, Lynne, Jeff, Lance, Janeese, Holly, Jennifer, Lauren; great-grandchildren Sarah, Miranda, Abigail, Alex, Luke, Matthew, Jack, Zachary, and Reid; and many nieces and nephews.
