Alice Faye Huff of Paris, Texas

Alice ‘Faye’ Huff departed this life at the home of her daughter on Friday, December 28th and entered the pearly gates of Heaven, where her Savior and a beautiful crown of jewels were awaiting her.  After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016, she amazed both medical professionals and her family with her strength and determination, initially defeating cancer and accomplishing things she was told she couldn’t.  After almost two years in remission, cancer returned and our Savior chose to give Faye her Heavenly healing.

Faye was a very determined and independent lady who spent her life as a servant of the Lord, a mother above all mothers, and a grandmother who extended unconditional love to all.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, working in her home and yard, but most of all she enjoyed her time spent with family.

Faye was born Alice Faye Newsom in Paris, Texas, to S.J. Newsom and Mamie Bell Russell Newsom on October 8, 1939.  She attended Paris schools and graduated from Paris High School in 1958.  She met Donald (Don) Miller Huff and the two became one in Paris, Texas, on January 28, 1958.  Only 28 days shy of their 50th anniversary, Don gained his heavenly reward on December 31, 2007.  Together they had 3 children and loved the life they shared.  Faye was a homemaker for many years but entered the workforce after her children were all in school, retiring from Paris Junior College.

Faye was a strong Christian lady who had been a long-time member of Victory Baptist Church.  She was currently a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School Class.

Family members who happily greeted her at heaven’s gate included her husband Don, her parents, her father in law Odis Huff, mother in law Iva Rae Dennis, brother in law Billy Dotson, Sr., great nephew Zane Newsom and a special young man, who she loved, Kristopher Byers.

The family left to remember and cherish this precious lady are her children, Mike and Stephanie Huff, Danny and Kim Huff, and Misty and Joe Stringfellow.  The 13 grandchildren who she loved and adored and who affectionately called her Nana, are Jennifer Huff Mascaritola, Jonathan Huff, Dustin Huff, Tyler Higgins, Darrin Higgins, Brent Higgins, Jake Stringfellow, Josh Stringfellow, Jimmel Stringfellow Lewis, Landyn Huff Bazazzadeh, Larsyn Huff, Sarah Hunt and James Hunt, 18 great grandchildren whose lives will be filled with stories about Nana and her deep love and devotion to them, her sister and best friend Lillie Newsom Dotson, who sat loving by her side in these last days, her brother Jimmy Newsom and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The legacy of love Faye left upon this earth will never be forgotten and her love for others will be carried on through the lives she touched.

We would like to thank Dr. Devabrata Ganguly and the excellent staff at Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Healthcare, who lovingly cared for mom before she moved home to be with family.  A special thanks to Shay Holman, Christina Jones and Carrie Allen of America’s Best Hospice, who lovingly cared for momma in her final days.  Shay, you were the ‘Sunshine’ in her day and she loved knowing that you were taking care of her.

Services to honor Faye and celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Victory Baptist Church, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery.  Officiating her homegoing celebration will be her dear friend and former pastor Dr. D.L. (Danny) Moody and her faithful friend and minister, Bro. D.J. Harris.  The family will receive friends from 4 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home.

Having the honor to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons Tyler Higgins, Darrin Higgins, Brent Higgins, Jonathan Huff, Dustin Huff, Jake Stringfellow, Josh Stringfellow, and James Hunt.
