Harold Emmerson Butler, 90, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Dickey & Rev. Robert Myre officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Butler was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Clardy, Texas the son of Leonard & Ida Russie Adams Butler. He attended Plainview School at Clardy. He then went to work helping build Camp Maxey and then was drafted into the Army and went into active duty Oct. 24, 1945. He was assigned to Tank Driver Duty NCO, was in charge of 30 men, and kept all corresponding military reports and records. After leaving the military he met & married Wanda Lee Nation on Feb. 24, 1947, in Falfurrias, Texas. They moved to Falfurrias where he went to work for Harry Newton Road Construction which was based out of Graham, Texas. They then moved to Waco and he helped build Interstate 35 from Waco to West, Texas. They moved from there to Vanhorn and built roads and overpasses to Ysleta, Texas. The family moved back to Paris and his last job was on FM 195 & 20th Street where he built the overpass. That was his last job following 16 years in road construction. He then settled down on his small ranch south of Paris, working for himself and his brother, R. L. Butler.
He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Sam Ezra Butler and Jack Reece Butler and two sisters, Maeola Bernice Butler Cluck and Ethleen Butler Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda, son, Rev. John David Griffith & wife Bernice, sisters, Ruby Fay Butler Simmons, Sara Joyce Butler Williams & husband David, & Kathleen Butler Miller & husband Phillip, brothers, R. L. Butler, Melvin R. Butler, Earl Dean Butler & wife Peggy, Manuel Ray Butler & wife Nancy, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a very special niece, Donna Hooks along with a plethora of friends.

Hazel J. Beach, 79, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at her home.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2nd, at Providence Cemetery with Rev. Michael King officiating.
Mrs. Beach, the daughter of Dale & Kelsie Kuykendall Adam, was born Jan. 6, 1933, in Red Oak, OK.
She was given an award by the governor of Oklahoma for saving a man’s life at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital where she worked as a Ward Clerk.
She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
Hazel married Harvey Vernon Beach, Sr., on Dec. 6, 1957, and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two children, Jenelee Mae Fisher and Katherine Beach.
Survivors include three children, Robert Randall Beach & fiancé Gina Whittington of Paris, Susan Ayala & husband Jonathon of Paris and Harvey Vernon Beach, Jr. & wife Angela of Powderly, grandchildren, Robert Randall Beach, Jr., Christopher Shawn James Beach, Adam Beach, Robert Lewis Fisher, Jr., Joshua Clark, Chais Epperson, Tylor Humphrey, Aiden Ayala, Preston Wayne Beach, Chandler James Beach, Kelsey Cole Beach and Tristan Stewart, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Doris Hensley and Bonnie Mae Adam, one brother, Crawford Cole along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Jerry W. Pearce, 79, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Patrick Cannon & Keith Bollman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and will also visit with friends at the funeral home following the service. Private burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Pearce, the son of Joe Harve & Vera Cunningham Pearce, was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Paris.
He married Dorothy Smallwood on April 15, 1962, building fifty years of family and memories.
His career with the Texas Department of Transportation spanned thirty years before his retirement as a supervisor of the sign shop in 1993. He was a member of the Texas Public Employees Association (TPEA).
He was a Chief Petty Officer (ret) with the U. S. Navy, having served from January 1953-March 1989 in both active duty and the Naval reserve. He was a member of several veteran’s organizations including the VFW, Naval Enlisted Reserve Association (NERA) and National Association of Uniformed Service (NAUS).
Jerry was a member of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two half brothers, Dale Pearce and Kenneth Pearce.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, two children, Joni Carol Chaney & husband Jerry of Paris and Brady Alan Pearce & wife Stephanie of Longview, two granddaughters, Dana Nicole Withers and Devin Renee Withers both of Paris, a grandson, Carter Alan Pearce of Longview, a sister-in-law, Peggy Dotson of Paris along with several nieces, nephews, & cousins and a host of friends.
Honorary casket bearers will be: Bobby Kennedy, Keith Mitchell, Clinton Evetts, John H. Gentry, Claude Jones, Glen Barnett, Joe Daniels, Butch Mills, James Owens, Ben Dillard & Lewis Anderson.
