Doris Jean Dowdy, 81, of Paris, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24th, at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Ken Cannon officiating.
Mrs. Dowdy, the daughter of Vetaw & Winnie Bolton Melton, was born Oct. 7, 1931, in Biardstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Austin Dowdy on June 14, 1997, twin granddaughters, Courtney & Brittany Stansell and brothers, Eugene, Harry Lee & J. D. Melton.
Survivors include three children, Brenda Adams & husband David of Forney, Charlotte Stansell & husband Paul of Paris and Dale Dowdy & wife Christi of Farmersville, grandchildren, Brandy Laule & husband Jason of Forney, Amanda Burns & husband Lee of Waxahachie, Melissa Stansell of College Station and Jade Boydstun of Farmersville, eight great grandchildren, three brothers, Jerry Melton & wife Vonna, Teddy Melton & wife Janis and Carl Melton, one sister, Faye Y’Barbo & husband Tom along with several nieces & nephews.

Larry Joe Ward, 74, of the Forest Chapel Community, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Dubuis Hospital.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25th, under the pavilion of Forest Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Raymond Johns officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ward, the son of Clyde & Carrie Pierce Ward, was born May 12, 1938, in Lamar County.
He worked for Ametec Corporation in Grand Prairie before beginning his career with B & W, as a machinist, where he worked until his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith.
His brother, Cleo Ward, preceded him in death as did his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Swinney Ward, whom he married on May 5, 1972, three children, Larry Joe Ward, Jr. & wife Cheryl of Hurst, Janice McKinney & husband Kenneth of Powderly, and Michael Chambers & wife Denise of Roxton, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren along with a host of friends.
