PJC logo - Copy - Copy - CopyAlong with early registration for Paris Junior College’s spring 2015-semester going on now, PJC offers financial aid and scholarships, including a new scholarship designed to encourage former students to finish college.

Those wanting to apply for scholarships or financial aid need to complete either a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TAFSA). That should be done as soon as possible because the priority deadline for scholarships is Dec. 15 and the available funds are limited. All other considerations being equal, preference will go to early scholarship applicants.

The new Second Chance scholarship will pay tuition and fees for two classes, up to eight hours. Those interested must apply by the Dec. 15 deadline.

“We designed this scholarship for and are reaching out to everyone who thought that college is beyond their reach,” said PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin. “You can start again to make a better life for yourself and your family and we’re offering this scholarship to prove that. Also, the Second Chance scholarship is available for students who started college and ‘stopped out’ and must successfully complete six hours to become eligible for financial aid.”

The new scholarship is for anyone who graduated from high school in 2007 or before, is not currently enrolled at PJC, has not completed a certificate or degree, and a FAFSA or TAFSA by Dec. 15, as well as submitting a high school transcript with date of graduation or a GED certificate. It is only available for the spring 2015 semester.

“We hope to encourage the non-traditional student who is working hard but needs a better job and salary, to consider returning to finish their certificate or degree,” said Dr. Anglin.

PJC will be closed for the Thanksgiving break Nov. 26-28, reopen Dec. 1 until Dec. 18 when the Winter Break begins, and reopen on Jan. 5, 2015. The spring semester starts Jan. 20, 2015, and time is short to apply for scholarships. To apply, go to www.parisjc.edu/scholarships. Scholarship applications are reviewed in order of receipt of completed applications with high school transcripts/GED certificate.
