Four North Lamar High School students recently qualified for the State Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) after competing in the Region 8 Conference recently held at North Lamar.
Andrea Minerd and Whitney Loftin (pictured right) will compete in Lubbock, Texas, in February after winning a gold certificate on their Life Cycle Bulletin Board entry.
Also qualifying for their silver certificate on their Solar System Bulletin Board entry was the duo of Emily Gibson and Lauren Howerton. Each team was to plan and design a bulletin board for use in an elementary classroom then give an oral presentation before a panel of judges about their entries.

In addition, all four of these students participated in the Education and Leadership Foundation (E.L.F.) Test. Individuals recognized for their achievements on the test were Whitney Loftin who earned a silver certificate and Emily Gibson who earned a bronze.
Chartered in the fall of 2013, North Lamar High School’s Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) chapter is the newest Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) that is recognized by the Texas Education Agency in the past 20 years.
Beginning in the spring semester, these students will spend one to two class periods each week in a North Lamar elementary classroom as student interns.

They will assist their mentor teachers with everyday classroom duties and return to the high school one class period each week for instruction from their teacher/coordinator Frankie Jarrell.
