poole001Betty Joyce Graves Poole, 84, of Paris, passed from this life Sunday May 12, 2013 at her residence. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 18, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Van Lazaroff and Rev. Ed Dodd officiating. Private family committal rites will be observed at Springhill Cemetery.

Betty will lie in repose at the church from 11:00 a.m. until service time, where the family will receive friends until 12:30 p.m.

Betty was born September 1, 1928 in the Springhill community, the only child of Alexander Clay and Lonie McDougal Graves. She was a 1945 graduate of Paris High School, then graduated from Paris Junior College. She was a longtime member of the Newcomers Club of Paris, and a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Paris, where she volunteered in the church office, and spent many hours serving her Lord in service to others. She spent twenty-five years as an employee of Texas Instruments in Richardson, where she retired as Purchasing Administrator in 1987. It was there that she met her husband Edmund (Eddie) Poole, whom she married on January 10, 1964 in Garland.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving spouse and partner Eddie; a son, Chuck Dicus and wife Cathy, of Little Rock, Arkansas; three grandsons, Jonathan Dicus, of New York, NY, Charles Dicus, of Los Angeles, CA, and Neal Dicus, of Conway, AR; cousins Kenneth McDougal, of Springhill, Honey Gibson, of Paris, Tibbie Cole, of Mabank, Robert Larry McDougal, of Springhill and Margaret Jordan, of Hooks; a special friend Shirley Tuttle, of Shamrock; and numerous other cousins, extended family and loving friends.

Named as honorary pallbearers are Ed Dodd, Brad O’Brien, Bob Kelley, Don McCaskill, John Fuston, Jake Street, Jack Edwards, Pete Dalrymple Will Horn, and Frank Poole.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests memorial contributions to the Downtown Food Pantry, c/o First United Methodist Church 322 Lamar Avenue, Paris, TX 75460.

Ethel E. Foster, 71, of Paris, died Tuesday May 7, 2013 at Legend Healthcare Center. Cremation was provided by Starrett Funeral Home. At Mrs. Foster’s request, her cremated remains will be scattered on the Blackwater River in Florida.

Born in Paramus, NJ on April 10, 1942, she is survived by three sons.
