Paul L. Smith, 79, of Detroit, passed away Wednesday May 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 17, with Rev. Tim Reger and Rev. Bill Draper officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to service from 10 until 11 a.m.
Paul was born in Detroit, Texas December 9, 1933 to Ernest and Evie Ladymon Smith. He married Shirley A. Hobbs July 5, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. He retired from Campbell Soup Co. after 28 years of service and ranched in the Detroit area. He was a member of Mt.OliveBaptistChurch. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Post 3990.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ray Smith and Leroy Smith and brother-in-law Dean Westmoreland.
Survivors are his wife of nearly 57 years Shirley Smith; children Bobby Smith and Katy, Roy Smith and Lisa, Paula Pool Warnell and Randy; grandchildren Casey Smith (Misty), Abbie Smith, Luke Pool, Susan Barnett, Shannon Watkins (Leslee), Brandy Fendley, Anna Smith Cooper, Nikke Bybee Goodale, Jodie Bybee Welch, Heather Bybee Payne; great grandchildren Shelby and Madison Watkins, Taylor and Miranda Fendley, Ragean, Kede, Javan, D.J., Jaden, and Shyanna Smith, Angelicca, Jaime, Savannaha Humphrey, Lolita Pool, Trace and Tenley Smith, Serenity Payne and Laney Welch. He is also survived by sisters, Jane and Roy Swift, Anna and Jimmy Clements, Juanita Westmoreland and sister-in-law Betty Smith.
Pallbearers will be Casey Smith, Taylor Fendley, Luke Pool, Trace Smith, Jaime Humphrey, Leslee Watkins, Aaron Welch, Wade Goodale, and Kede Smith.

Judy Katherine Crutchfield Hornback, 63, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Cremation is under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. The family will conduct a celebration of Judy’s life at a later date.
Judy, the daughter of Albert Allen & Leona Rushing Crutchfield, was born February 19, 1950, in Paris.
She enjoyed computers and was avid in genealogy and family heritage. Judy was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings; Dora Beatty, Edgar Dee Crutchfield, Joe Miller Crutchfield, Florence Jones, Edna Webb and Johnny Mack Crutchfield.
Survivors include her son, Mitchell Hornback & wife Lorri of Little Elm, her ex-husband, Mike Hornback of Paris, a grandson, Tanner Scott Hornback, seven siblings; Jerry Mack Crutchfield & wife Norma of Cooper, Ervin Crutchfield of Cooper, Sharon Austin & husband Stuart of Watauga, Cecil Crutchfield of Paris, Kathy Evans & husband Albert of Brookston, Torchie Beatty & husband David of Douglassville and Bobby Dean Crutchfield of Linden along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
