The first City Council meeting of 2015 is scheduled for Monday, January 12th at 5:30pm in the City Council Chamber, located at 107 E. Kaufman Street in downtown Paris.
Two items on the agenda address resolutions accepting from the Federal Aviation Administration a Surplus Property Release of 12.662 acres of land at Paris Cox Field Airport and declaring city-owned property (specifically this 12.662 acres at the Cox Field) as surplus.
Other items on the regular agenda include changing the language of the citizen’s forum; receiving an update on the residential tax abatement program and discussing possible changes; receive update on home repair loan program; discuss and possibly act on a policy for creation of reinvestment zones within the city limits; receive and discuss update on the 2013 bond water and sewer line replacement projects and road repairs.
City council members will also hear a presentation from Sahil Prakash, a Paris Jr. High student, on project “Pedal On” as well as a presentation on US statistics on economic growth and job creation over the last five years and its effect on Paris.
The meeting is open to the public and includes a citizen’s forum at the beginning of the meeting.
