Gussie Lee Cass, 104, of Arthur City, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 5th, at Chicota Baptist Church with Rev. Rocky Burrow & Rev. Buddy Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Cass, the daughter of Hugh & Fannie Morris, was born March 22, 1909, in Chicota.
A wonderful seamstress, she sewed for the public and worked in the WPA Sewing Room. She also worked in the lunch room at Chicota Schools for a short period of time. She was a member of Chicota Baptist Church.
She married Floyd Cass on Feb. 14, 1926, building 65 years of family and memories before his death on April 13, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Fannie Chambers, infant twins, one brother, two sisters, and three grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, Gene Cass & wife Ruth of Arthur City, Malcolm Cass & wife Juanell of Mabank, Peggy Holmes of McKinney, Dixie Gage of Paris and Loretha Vanderburg of Reno, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers will be: Timothy Cass, Larry Cass, Christopher Vanderburg, Joe Burdine, Michael Cass and Shane Carpenter.

Gerritt Van Noord, Jr., 79, of Blossom, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013, at his home.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6th, at Knights of Honor Cemetery with Steve Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Van Noord, the son of Gerritt VanNoord, Sr. and Alice Mae Girou Van Noord, was born May 11, 1934, in Byron Center, Michigan.
He was a dairyman for all of his adult life, and loved his work. He & his wife also owned & operated Van Noord Greenhouses in Reno.
He never met a stranger & enjoyed meeting new people. He loved family gatherings and being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His parents, a granddaughter, Alicia Lusk, and a son-in-law, Byron Malone, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Verburg Van Noord, whom he married in 1959, eleven children; Dianne Dodson of Paris, Juliana Malone of Paris, Rebecca Tisdell & husband Ted of Priest River, Idaho, Ruth Freeman & husband Steve of Gilmer, John Van Noord of Paris, Rachel Martella & husband Mitch of MS, David Van Noord & wife Tamera of Blossom, Nancy Henderson of Paris, Jana Griffin & husband Cecil of Scurry, Garrick Van Noord & wife Meghan of Lewisville and Justin Van Noord of CA, 25 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one brother Eugene, five sisters, Laura, Esther, Sharon, Viola and Ruth, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Honorary casket bearers will be: Steven Lusk, Mike Lusk, Schuyler Malone, Ben Malone, Jacob Tisdell, Ryan Van Noord, Wade Van Noord, Zackary Martella, Jan Van Noord, Garrick Van Noord, Justin Van Noord, Stetson Henderson, James Wade, Glenn Godwin and Randy Upchurch.
