ARDIE NEIL BARNES

To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.  II Corinthians 5:8  The earthly journey  of Ardie Neil Barnes ended December 7, 2012.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 10, in the chapel of Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Barnes officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

The blessing of his life began March 9, 1936 when he was born to William Ivy and Josephine Slagle Barnes in Bonham, TX.  He married Glenda Mae Young on October 30, 1956.  Three beloved children were born to this union: Denise, Neil , and Chad.  His children provided him with more joy in the form of grandchildren, Aaron, Kara, Erica, Joshua, Kristen, Blake, Hunter, Jenna, and Elizabeth.

On May 22, 1992, Ardie married Shirley Metts  and inherited two loving, beautiful daughters, Melissa Boothe and Monica Raulston and more special grandchildren, Alicia, Branden and Carlen.

Ardie moved to Paris, TX in 1948 and graduated from Paris High School in 1954 after which he spent time in the Naval Reserve.  He went to work for Curtis Mathes in 1959 in Dallas and later in Athens, TX.  He was transferred to Puerto Rico in 1965 as Production Manager and promoted to Plant Manager in 1968.  In 1970, Ardie and family returned to Paris where he opened Barnes TV Service in 1970 and was self employed until his retirement in 2008.

Ardie was a past member of the Hugo Country Club, Clarksville Country Club, Elks Lodge, and the Optimist Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, spending time with grandkids, eating out with family and friends and solving crossword puzzles.  Ardie had great pride for his family and was well respected throughout the Barnes family who will greatly miss his sense of humor, gentle ways, loyalty, generosity and forgiving nature.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Barnes and sister Mary Friday.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, children, Denise Colville, Neil Barnes and wife Jan, Chad Barnes and wife Jennifer, Melissa Boothe and Monica Raulston and husband Steve. Surviving grandchildren are Aaron Barnes (Erin), Kara Calhoun, Erica Grace (Jarrott), Joshua Barnes (Erica), Kristen Holcombe (Michael), Blake Barnes, Hunter Colville, Jenna Barnes, Elizabeth Barnes, Alicia Thompson, Branden Carrasco (Damien) and Carlen Thompson.  Great grandchildren are Keaton, Rory, Ember, Bricen, Charlee, Brittan, Presley and Cohen.  Surviving siblings include Grover Barnes, Carolyn Smith (Michael), and Joe Barnes (Dianne) as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends to cherish his memory.
