Dorothy Mary Fisher Spurling Guffey, 93, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 06, 2012 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 19,1919 in Cairo, Egypt to Alice Khattar Mellelia Fisher and Edward Fisher. Her family moved to London, England in 1923. She attended Saint Vincent’s Schools in London, before coming to the United States and becoming an American citizen on October 31, 1950.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Robert Guffey, her parents, her brother RAF Flight Sergeant James Joseph Fisher Spurling whose plane was shot down over the English Channel on October 25,1943 , an uncle Professor George Khattar Mellellia, and her stepfather Herbert James Spurling.
She is survived by her stepchildren: Doris Guffey Hines and her husband George C. of Paris with whom she made her home, Robert Guffey and wife Mary of Cooper, and Dana Borne and husband Pat of South Lake.
Grandsons: Mike Hines and wife Carrie, Gerry Hines, and Chris Borne.
Great Grandchildren: Cecily Hines Wood and husband Russell, Haley Hines, Keegan Hines, Kylie Henderson, Ashton Henderson, Kate Hines, Klaire Hines, and Karson Hines.
Great- Great Grandsons: Andrew Raper and Adam Wood.
She worked as a seamstress for Hardy Amos in London. After coming to the United States, she became a licensed nurse, and a legal secretary.
Arrangements for cremation are being handled by Bright Holland Funeral Home. In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.

James Aubry Shelby, 74, of Paris passed away at his residence Thursday December 6, 2012. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Services will be at a later date.
He was born September 14, 1938 in Red River County a son of John Thomas and Geraldine Wilkins Shelby. He was a carpenter and a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by daughter Lori Hendricks and husband Jeff, their children and grandchildren; son Jamie Shelby; brother Jackie Shelby; a sister Diana Merritt, niece Janet Dockery and husband Craig and their children Nathan Logsdon, Alisa Johnson, Aaron Dockery and Casey Logsdon.
