Gaynell Thrasher Ottinger, 68, of Paris, died at 4:56 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time on Wednesday prior to the service. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Gaynell was born March 28, 1945 in Paris to Paul Franklin and Geneva Wright Thrasher. She graduated from Paris High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from East Texas State University. She married Jerry Wayne Ottinger on July 8, 1982 in Paris. She taught school in Port Arthur, Powderly, West Lamar, Aikin Elementary, Justiss Elementary, and retired from PISD as a counselor. She was a charter member of East Paris Baptist Church.
Gaynell adored her grandkids and loved spending time with them more than anything. She was an avid collector of antiques and other collectibles. Her other favorite hobby was cooking for her family and watching cooking shows.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Ottinger of Paris; two daughters, Missy York Kennedy and husband, Heath of Paris and Paige York Throgmorton and husband, Quay of Commerce; three grandchildren, Laytner Ty Kennedy, Layker Cross Kennedy, and Evan Ryan Throgmorton; and one sister, Linda Kay Voight of Port Neches, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Iris June Smith.
Pallbearers will be Keith Thrasher, Ronnie Thrasher, Jerry Thrasher, Gregg Hollje, and David Thrasher.

Miss Lenna Lou Blassingame, 78, of Paris passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 in Sterling House.
She was born on December 6, 1934 in Ardmore, Oklahoma a daughter of Jewel Raymond and Lenna Leola Tudor Blassingame. She was a member of Living Word Assembly of God. Miss Blassingame was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Donna Blassingame Stores, Wanda Raye Blassingame Moore, Jewel Lemount Blassingame, James Blassingame, Bob Blassingame, Willard Joe Blassingame, Frankie Blassingame Holt, and Donald Lee Blassingame.
She is survived by a brother Mike Blassingame, several nieces, nephews , great nieces and great nephews including David Hold and wife Dianna of Paris, Danny Allen of Salem, Oregon and Donna Keith and husband Dale of Pickton.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in the Yantis Cemetery in Yantis, Texas with Rev. David Holt officiating.
